Wonderful art collections. We were in the MET for about 4 hours and still so much more to see. I can't wait to come back.

The MOMA is laid out in a beautiful way with lots of glass, open space and light. It organized by period so easy to find your favorites. So many iconic paintings from Matisse, Van Gogh, Picasso, Chigal and so many others. Don't miss the sculpture garden which is such a nice combination of sculptures, water and trees in the heart of midtown.

The Met Cloisters is an art museum fearing medieval art. It is located on the edge of Washington Heights and Inwood in Upper Manhattan. It gives guests the sense of life in in medieval castle and/or monastery. Here, there are few world-class masterpieces that are easily found in Europe. However, the views from its outdoor gardens overlooking the Hudson River and the NJ Palisades are spectacular on a bright spring/summer day. There are 4 to 5 separate cloisters, all shipped over from France and Spain. The museum was created and fund by John D. Rockefeller, once the world's richest man.

Tip: Guests tickets for the Met Cloisters are also good for entrance to the Met Museum on Fifth Avenue which often stays open to 9:00 PM. Same day only.

Henry Clay Frick was a wealthy industrialist who collected European paintings, mainly Old Masters. The Frick Collection was donated to the public on Frick's death. Normally the collection is on show at the Frick mansion, which is a building in grand Beaux-Arts style. The mansion is currently undergoing renovation, and the collection s housed in Frick Madison. The Frick Collection is one of the finest assembles high-quality art in the world

The modern Whitney Museum of American Art holds the finest collection of American art on Earth. The items range from historical pieces to contemporary art. The collection is strong in schools that were prominent in New York, such as Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism. Other distinctively American painters, such as Jackson Pollock, are well represented. Action Painting needs to be seen quietly to be appreciated. It' true to say that the center of artistic creation migrated from Paris to New York following the end of World War II.

Located in a quiet Upper East Side neighborhood, we were glad to have stumbled upon this museum. One my favorite artists, Gustav Klimit's collection is here. Museum is well laid out. Great book store.

You get to experience years of history here with the museum's exhibits, collections and films. We saw the "I'll have what she's having...the Jewish Deli" exhibit and enjoyed the experience. It showed how Jewish delicatessens became a cornerstone of American food.

Iconic building in New York. It is a popular site, make sure to book in advance, if not you risk waiting in line. Nice café with okay prices, and a great giftshop. I thought it was bigger, I was there 1 hour and feel I saw it all.

Nice little museum that is a little bit different. Focussed on Himalayan art and has a good collection of artifacts which are all well described. We weren't sure if we would enjoy it but it was well worth the visit.

Arriving right at ten, I wanted to beat the crowds and try to see most of it before the Guggenheim (next door opened).
I had a bite to eat in their pretty little cafe and explored.
The museum is small, but I loved the exhibitions.
One was on 'what if we lived in a time of peace'. Very thought provoking.
The other was what I came for - the Hector Guimard 'How Paris got its curves'. I loved this! Fascinating and great collection show.
The price is high for the amount to view, but the building itself is also something to see - it is so gorgeous and gives you a glimpse into the guilded age of NYC.

This small museum, conveniently located at Columbus Circle, focusses on arts, crafts and design. Particularly interesting right now is the "Funk You Too" exhibition, "Humor and Irreverence in Ceramic Sculpture, while the exhibition on paper dresses, which were a fad in the 1960s, is historically important. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful, precious, unique, magical. The collection is impressively big, but not big enough to make you tired. There are also photographs from his life, and other objects of art other than paintings. This is a free museum, a true gem, where you can escape from the busyness of the city.

Loved Discovering the Cosmos Lumiere exhibit. Go on the hour when it begins. We went just before 2pm and snagged a seat although you can sit on floor or stand. Fun to also go into vault below.

This small museum has beautiful exhibits of Greek antiquities and is normally quiet and lovely. Entrance is down stairs in Olympic Towers public atrium.

This is a small museum so it’s easy to go through the entire exhibit in an hour or so which is advantageous in the sense that we’re more likely to thoroughly read all of the information. In this case, the exhibit was one of historical weathervanes which was fascinating and well worth our time. The gift shop was well stocked with interesting items, not just the usual mass produced museum shop fare.
