What travellers are saying
- Justin WHasbrouck Heights, NJ3,284 contributionsThere is nothing like Carnegie Hall at Christmas time. This is the one concert that I look forward to and do not mind splurging on the tickets at Christmas is the evening of Christmas music with the New York Pops and their annual guest artist. Getting these tickets is getting tougher each year but I find that if you wait until the last minute there are a lot of cancellations.
I lucked out and got a seat on row H on the aisle that is perfect for me since I am tall. I could see everything perfectly and you could see the artist. I could even see Santa running down the aisle with one of his elfs. The concert was filled with Christmas songs and contemporary pop music from the artist Ingrid Michaelson, who was excellent that evening and God could she sing! What a concert!
The place was all excited about the holidays and talk about a concert that put you in the holiday spirit. All I have to say is same time next year!Written 23 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were able to see 7 different comedians and while some fell flat for the most part we really enjoyed this show! We laughed through most of the show and the service was great as well. They had a 2 drink/food per person minimum, but we found that easy to meet. The space was small and had a very intimate feel.
You never know who you will see here - many top comedians have been known to frequent the Village Underground/Comedy Cellar and we just so happened to see Ray Romano! Great overall experience and would HIGHLY recommend.Written 30 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Mark Peskanov the artistic director of bargemusic was performing the violin with the fantastic Maureen Volk at piano.
It was my best gift to my ears since long ago.
I’ll return and recommend this place!Written 14 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Martin DAberdeen, UK34 contributionsExcellent intimate venue for a gig. Drink prices weren’t over the top either. Had heard there might be a delay getting our coats back at the end of the night but found the whole experience to be quick and efficient. We would definitely come back.Written 18 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JLM1229Toms River, NJ3 contributionsWe have seen the best talks and pre-screenings here! We see at least two things a year here when we can.Written 5 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Pranav Vaidyanathan1 contributionThis was my first time attending a DCINY event, and I got the opportunity to see Eric Whitacre and the rest of the entourage perform on stage. It was incredible, with everything coming together at the newly renovated David Geffen Hall in the Lincoln Center. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to spend ~2 hours rightWritten 18 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - femaleboxerNew York City, NY605 contributionsCame here for a concert recently. Despite being a very small venue for a show, the sound quality was great. Really, my only criticisms of the place is that it's so small, even waiting for the bathroom feels cramped. You can't get away from the crowd at all. But hey, got to see a great show at a great price, so I won't complain!Written 31 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sunset92Brooklyn, NY1,874 contributionsWe won free tickets from 1iota to see Sabrina Carpenter on the GMA SummerConcert Series. We were there at 5:30am, check in closed at 6am. Everything was well organized. We waited on line for about 30 minutes. After, we walked to the venue inside the park. It was general admission and most people were standing. There were bleachers in the back for those who wish to sit. The mini concert was nice.Written 6 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Draculas_Bride666Rothwell, UK744 contributionsWe came here to see Jinjer. The venue itself is great - not too big or too small.
The drinks however are super expensive and there isn't a wide selection but htere are plenty of eating and drinking places near by.Written 11 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a great place to see a concert as there isn't a bad seat in the place. It was also convenient to have concessions and bathrooms on each floor.Written 5 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amil77East Patchogue, NY178 contributionsMy husband and I went and saw Anberlin here back in July. I believe the venue is currently closed for a remodel. It was a great show, with a worn-in feel that lended some authenticity to it. While it was packed, we didn't get the feeling of sardines like others have mentioned. Easy enough to navigate through the crowd to get the spot on the floor you wanted, or to exit mid-show.
Typical bar service and merch area like other similar-sized venues. We were on the floor, but there was a second level with its own bar as well. Overall, great show and quality venue that's pretty standard.Written 9 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is only a place for musicians (not even a stage as such) and several rows of chairs for listeners. There is no bar, no merchandise, nothing but the set of live jazz music. I was there for one of the Sunday 3pm concerts. It is a series of shows taking place every Sunday, during which different musicians play John Zorn's so called "Bagatelles". Excellent music!!!!!!!!!!! Mr Zorn, who as I understand is a founder and spiritus movens of the place, was also there listening to his music played by other musicians.
What I liked the most (apart from the music itself) is the fact, that opposite to the other, famous scenes like Blue Note or Village Vanguard, only real jazz lovers are coming to the place and there are no accidental tourists.
For those interested in avant-garde jazz this is the top NYC jazz place to visit. I will come back for sure.Written 9 June 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
