This is the original library built by J. Pierpont Morgan, with an Annex that was built around it around 100 years ago, that serves as an art museum. The library itself is beautiful and interesting and took us about 45 minutes to go through. There is an audio tour you can download and if you took time to listen to every room and description, it would take 1 to 1-1/2 hours. The rest of the museum was just okay in my opinion. We didn’t spend much time in that part of the museum. There’s a nice gift shop and a café. I thought admission was a little steep, especially since this is a pretty small museum, but I would pay again to visit the library portion. The security guard was on a bit of a power trip: there were about 20 people waiting for the museum to open at 10:30, who had been waiting 15 minutes or longer. He got around to unlocking the doors at about 10:35 and wouldn't let anyone in until he methodically, and slowly, unlocked each and every door.

The architecture on this building is beautiful. Entrance is free of charge and you will find a lot of people here so it won't be as quiet as you expect. The Christmas tree was just amazing and the exhibitions were very interesting. You really could spend a couple of hours here.

Tucked away on the Amsterdam side of Lincoln Center is this wonderful little gem of a library devoted to all things in the performing arts.

In addition to being an actual library, the facility hosts exhibits and performances. I was lucky enough to experience both, and they were free.

The retrospective of theater photographs was superb and covered a wide variety of shows. That evening's free concert featured music students from The New College performing modern compositions.

If you're headed to Lincoln Center for an event, go a little early and check out this wonderful facility if you can.

Went there for the NY auto show and it was very good. We were a bit disappointed that the restaurants on the lowest level were closed. The three food choices on the 3rd level were burgers, pizza or chicken fingers. There is also Starbucks and concession stands with snacks. Bathrooms are clean. I think there should be another
coffee spot since not everyone can drink Starbucks.

I highly recommend taking a guided tour of Park Avenue Armory if you are interested in history or architecture. This is a stunning late 19th century building which was built as the home for the 7th regiment in the 1880s. It is now in the process of being restored room by room and is also used by artists and for theatrical performances in the enormous drill hall. Tours run usually every month - I did have to book several weeks in advance to find the next available date. The $25 charge was very reasonable - it was supposed to take 75 minutes but was closer to 90, perhaps because our group asked lots of questions! But the guide, Grace, was happy to answer them all and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We saw three rooms on the ground floor and two of the rooms on the first floor as well as the drill hall. The Veterans' Room with decoration by Tiffany and Stanford White was absolutely stunning. Most of the rooms have seating available so you can sit as you listen to the guide, and photographs are permitted.

One thing which could perhaps have been included was a bit more information about General Emmons Clark, who is represented in a huge portrait in the first room we visited. Grace had to look up who was the subject of the paintings in the room but it was only as we were leaving the room that I noticed there is actually a plaque to Emmons Clark under his portrait, thanking him for being instrumental in getting the Armory built, so I was surprised that he didn't feature more prominently. I presume the medals displayed by the plaque also belong to him.

Anyway, that is a minor nitpick - Grace was great and I really enjoyed it. I must say that the staff on the box office and the reception desk could learn something from her in how to talk to people - they were both very abrupt and surly, particularly the young man on reception who barked "TOUR?" at me as I approached the desk and exasperatedly told me that I couldn't use the bathroom until I had checked in. The email booking confirmation tells you to check in at the Mary Divver Room but there is no signage at the entrance to show you where this is - for information, it is immediately to your right when you go up the entrance steps (so you then don't have to go as far as the rude receptionist).

HERE IS WHERE WE GO. !!!!! Why? Because my/our human people we will feel the under the exhibitions FANTASTIC RESOURCES of Arturo. WHO WAS Arturo? A Puerto Rican Black man! He resolved to get this history so we can unite. Stop fighting between the oppressed. LEARN more. RESEARCH beneath the exhibits. Make appointments. Delight in the microfiche and all the possibilities to follow YOUR choices about Black s . I DID and feel Paul Robeson, he and other communists of color : Claudia Jones..from Trinidad that the usa exploited and Banned. WE CAN BE INSPIRED!

For my LIttle 10 year old cousin. He delights in going to the "SHOP". TOYS in blackness. Books for babies. Oh Titi look here he said we can play this.

This is a branch of the New York Public Library. What makes it worth visiting is that it looks like it had been a church in the past. The outside looks like a church and inside there is an interesting winding staircase with some pretty stained-glass windows. This is not really worth going out of your way to see, but if you are in the area, it is worth stepping inside for a few minutes.

City Hall park sits very obviously in front of City Hall which is downtown Manhattan. There is also a visitors centre. Recommended.

This is a nice collection of literary quotes embedded in sidewalk of West 41st Street on the way to the New York Public Library's main entrance. A good way to get into the mood for reading classics as you walk from Grand Central Terminal to the NYPL.

What a fun way to team build with my coworkers! We had a blast feeling like we were on a live game show. It was totally immersive with the wrap around projection mapping and the host was fun and engaging. I would highly recommend for groups!

The Roosevelt Island visitors centre is located just off the tramway. It’s really a great little piece of history and worth a visit.

A great pit-stop for whatever weather. Airy, beautiful views in the library where you can drink and eat within reason (no loud crunching but plenty of coffee sipping and sandwich munching). Pull any volume of poetry published in the past 50 years in the US off the shelves, plus plenty of foreign translated into english poetry.

Although you must be a member of this library to check out books, they do host lectures and other events open to the public. It's a lovely grand building and the children's rooms are most welcoming and attractive. If I lived in New York, I'd definitely join!
