We are members, so go every few months on nice days when we know it won't be too busy. With a dozen 'world-class' displays, any of which would be a major draw in a regular zoo, there is frankly not enough time in a full day to do justice to all of it. Based on weather, we select our favorites. Frankly, the Lied Jungle is simply awe-inspiring Wandering through the beauty with animals all about and even flying overhead. When they feed the hundreds of bats each afternoon, it is just amazing (if you like bats!). Be prepared to hike long distances but don't miss the new Orangutan habitat or the redesigned Gorilla areas. The elephants, with five young ones born in the past two years, are a huge draw, as is the sea lions. Yes, it is a hefty ticket to take the whole family, but when I meet folks from other states, they are always in amazement of the place.

I anticipated a lot of train memorabilia and while there was enough of that, we also loved the exhibit on Jane Goodall and her work with primates. It was targeted to both a casual audience and one that might want to learn more. We also enjoyed some poignant history areas, grabbed lunch at the soda fountain (so-so) and took much longer in the larger underground facility than you would think. Gracious docents, staff and overall good time.

The pedestrian stretches across the Missouri River, connection the Omaha Riverfront to the Council Bluffs Riverfront in Iowa.

Only pedestrians and bikes are allowed and it is a great experience to cross the bridge and enjoy some excellent views of the Omaha skyline. We visited on a sunny day and several other enjoyed biking, running and walking on the bridge.

Our family's visit was quite a treat. We had a member in a power chair & it was never a problem on the pathways or in the lodge. The garden 'rooms' were well laid out and dotted with sculptures & information boards, so we never felt lost in the woods.
This is an easy recommendation - you'll learn a lot about the Omaha growing zone and find some planting surprises to inspire your own garden.

Me and my family have been going to this museum for years and in the past 2 years we moved away. On a recent visit we were excited to see the update and it exceeded our expectations. The edition’s architecture and art is spectacular and the update in the original building is amazing! Really an unbelievable museum for a mid size city. It’s simply a must do when you come to Omaha, with or without kids, and it’s FREE!! Tip, the views from the outside observatory on the second floor of the new addition are amazing.

A good children's museum. Lots of different areas for different age/stage/interest levels. As with all kids museums, earplugs should be an option for unsuspecting adults! Definitely worth going to with kids of many ages....ours are 3 & 8 and we spent several hours there. Fun watching older ones help young ones; kids creating something from their own building skills; interacting with others as they immerse themselves in a castle, a restaurant or a store; discover new science options in motion and see themselves as an animated robot they created. Good fun.

The First National Parks are located around several blocks in downtown Omaha. The Pioneer Courage Park with a wagon train heading west is situated at Capitol and 14th – 15th Streets and is linked to The Spirit of Nebraska’s Wilderness at Dodge and 16th Street. The latter actually continues inside the First National Bank Tower Winter Garden Atrium.

The parks are linked by some great bison sculptures along 15th Street and the entire area forms a very impressive sculpture park with several impressive bronze and stainless steel sculptures. It is possible to walk around and enjoy the beautiful artwork for free and this is definitely a must-see in Omaha.

This park needed an update. It was turning into a place for the homeless to hang out and there was a lot of trash everywhere. They did a nice job updating it and putting a new coat of paint on, so to speak. A lot of nice attractions now, and the trademark slides are still there!

I'm a little worried that with time, it will become a place for the homeless to hang out once again and trash might start to pile up. It seems it's already slowly going in that direction. Also, many of the new attractions seem they were built on the cheap. Many hammocks are already broken, the new monitors are gone and other new things have either fallen apart or are under repair.

I'll be curious what this looks like in another 2 years.

Good trip. We arrived at approximately 4:30 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the park. Admission into the park was free, which is always a plus. We walked up several flights of stairs, and up a small ramp in order to reach the trains. There were informational plaques located alongside the ramp, that detailed the history of trains in Omaha and the backstory of the trains we were about to view. Located at the top of the ramp were two locomotives. We were not able to go inside either of them, and only viewed them from the outside. The trains overlooked a highway and a body of water.

Tip: I recommend spending 15 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.
