We went back to Bracciano just to see the Castle again. It is only 1 hour from Rome by train and it is perched on a beautiful lake. It is magnificent both outside and inside. We loved the fact that you can go through the castle without guided tours and follow a video that you can download in your smartphone. The video explains everything and you can stop as much as you want to admire views, architectural details and objects. We sat in the courtyard for 20 minutes to absorb the magic atmosphere. Among the rooms out favorite was the Sala with the Renaissance icons. The Pietà in the center and the Annunciation in the background are splendid. The castle is owned by a princess and you have the feeling to be welcomed by the noble Odescalchi family.

Very suggestive location, you will be surrounded by nature and story.
It’s easy for kids and you could make picnic, there isn’t a bar nearby so don’t forget that.

An atmospheric and friendly little museum in an old quarter on the way up to the castle. It has a superb Roman statue of Apollo from a temple sight just to the south.

We could not find them? We were in the area but no where could we find any sign to them. The road is very narrow and rough and there are several private properties. Was it us or was it our navigational equipment? It was marked but we could not see access.

Located in the older part of Bracciano sits this brown church, it is hard to get a full appreciation of the facade (size deceiving) as it is in a fairly narrow street. the interior is quite big with beautiful frescoes to admire. Definitely worth a visit during a walk of the old town.

Enjoyable day trip from Rome to find this gem of a village on the lake. Easy walkable around the quaint town streets, arriving at good views of the lake and castle.

Located across from Piazza IV Novembre, stands this neoclassical in appearance, small church. The interior demonstrates austere simplicity, it serves its purpose as a place of worship, without (excessive) adornment.

It started life as part of a convent in the mid 1600's, being abandoned (after several renovations), and later in life becoming the church we see today. A highlight of a visit is gazing upon the painting of the visitation that hangs above the alter, in which the church takes its name from.

This is a medieval church that turned into vilage church in 1427. As years passed it was reconstructed and upgraded many times, last renovation was in 1886.
Cathedral has original paintings of Wolfgango Conti. Interiors and paintings are very interesting and differ from usual style of Roman churches.
It is located above central plaza and beautifull stair case leads to main entrance.

Facing the Castello on Piazza IV Novembre is a large monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers of WW1 and WW2, on either side of a military themed bas-relief wall are the names of the soldiers are written on the wall.
