Hidden treasure in Warkworth. Superb local art, definitely worth a look. Bought some stunning handmade earrings at a very reasonable price.

Amazing nature reserve to camp at. You need a code to enter on a lock pad on the gate (code received after booking). A predator fence protects the many birds, and I mean many (pokeku, pheasants, kiwis, pigeons, owls). The road is windy and narrow to access the park. Beautiful beach views, walks, sand dunes.

Pit style toilets, soap and water provided at the bathrooms. Lots of open space in the paddock to camp. Tons of bird life and bird life noises from the forest. Peaceful and relaxing.

Great family outing. The cafe was a major disappointment. It wasn’t busy and yet it took them an hour or so to prepare basic items for the kids.

The water was magical and it was very fun to go snorkeling, we didn't see much fish when we went. We went on a long weekend, the beach itself was packed with little room for privacy. The parking there is a grade A nightmare, be prepared to park very far back and walk. I recommend going as early as possible for closer parking and a good spot to congregate as a family/group of friends on the beach.

We really enjoyed walking through this woodland nature reserve. We were able to view Silver Ferns and Kauri trees during the easy walk along the boardwalk. The adjacent museum is also well worth a visit.

Omaha beach is a magnificent stretch of white sand and pristine water where one can walk to the heart’s content. The centrally located Omaha Surf Lifesaving Club offers a comforting presence for swimmers.

Great motel in a small town with a huge beach. Clean, well-equipped, stylish and very welcoming. Went to a great restaurant over the road, Little and Local, and enjoyed a good walk on the beach at low tide. Recommend!

A really special museum of local history run by friendly knowledgeable local volunteers. It gave an insight to the settlement and development of the area. While there we would recommend a visit to the adjoining Kauri grove.

A hidden gem. Stopped as a 'maybe' and would now tell people to find their way there. Really enjoyed our visit, lovely grounds, incredible array of reptiles, up close and interesting

Well worth a short detour off Highway 1 or taking a drive out from Auckland. Some nice, not too challenging, walks with lovely views. Access to various beaches. Plenty of birdlife. Easy parking and rest rooms on site. Might suggest don't bother with walk out to Cudlip Point - there is no view from the viewing point as its shrouded in trees. Instead, take the Cudlip Point Loop Track for an excellent circular walk.

What a lovely hidden gem. Visited this place as the historical home has personal meaning to our family history.
Thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the home and grounds and walking around Casnell island at low tide.
Such a peaceful place sitting on the beach in front of the historical home.
Loved the huge tree on the grounds as well.
