The Ka Moana Lu’au was,..next to…a perfect evening, but disappointing and upsetting in the end.
The organization of assembling the audience by the Lu’au staff was excellent but for those spectators who cannot understand the repeated instructions that only ONE representative per family group is required to pick up wrist bands and tickets. It led to unmanageable crowds only getting in the way and delaying the process by 30 minutes. But the gentleman trying to marshall people was superb and patient in trying to manage hundreds of people.
The food provided a wide and scrumptious selection of Hawaiian fair. ‘Ono, ono, ono’ (delicious). In fact, ‘ono-licious’, and the best.
The show and the entertainers were incredible. They provided a TRULY MEMORABLE presentation from start to finish. The music, dance & choreography, and colours were PERFECT & beautiful. The MC and ‘tribal chief’ were humorous and educating. Fantastic all around.
My wife and I attended to see the show but also to celebrate a significant anniversary. We purchased two Moana Celebrity level tickets for $199 each. No problems with that for what we received except for one point. Our package included one memorable photograph to be taken by the lu’au photographers. Five shots were taken; two ~ 8x8’s were printed and presented side by side in a photo folder along with a contact sheet of all five prints available for another $25 dollars if chosen. My wife and I decided we would decline on the 5 but take the one of the two printed; the one on the right of the folder was of better photographic quality and was our choice. The young man quickly pulled out the one on the right and pushed the folder with the left, poorer quality one at me. I explained again that I wanted the one removed and why. He simply said “I can’t”, but his attitude and belligerence was more like “I won’t”. As we had paid so much and they had printed two pictures already it should have been our choice. Facetiously young sir, ‘thanks for nothing’. Sad ending from someone who has no customer service ability in a customer service industry. And try to look professional next time.
