What travellers are saying
- Shaun M2 contributionsWe did the sunset horseback tour and this was a fantastic experience! The horses were really sweet, the tour guides were super cool and fun and the scenery was beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour.Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John GWarsaw, Canada53 contributionsCosta Rica has a well-deserved reputation as a leader in international conservation and the Nunez family helps to explain why. As stewards of the Santa Lucia Falls private nature reserve they protect the forest ecosystem and welcome visitors from around the world to experience it first-hand. We spent a wonderful morning hiking with Enrique to the falls. He paced our upward climb well with rest stops at each cataract. It was hot and we opted not to attempt to reach the third (uppermost) waterfall. At the end of our descent we were rewarded with a refreshing swim in the river and shared a delicious meal of chicken, vegetables and fresh fruit. What we enjoyed most of all was our conversation with Enrique which touched on the importance of family, connection to place and concern about the environment and nature. We left feeling inspired by and grateful to Enrique and Humberto and their families for their stewardship of this place and for their generosity in sharing it with us.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lucille MWinnipeg, Canada55 contributionsThis beach can only br accessed for a fee and you pay at the gate. Be aware. My credit card was charged 3 times! Pay in cash if you can.
The beach is nice. The surf is good. At one entrance there are stalls selling souvenirs and food.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. People with physical limitations and older people should be aware that the path to the waterfall includes fairly steep, rough stone stairs (with railings to hold on to) and a part of the path goes through shallow water and over rough rocks to the get to the falls. The falls are lovely and it was fun to watch people slide down the rock slide. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00 and it was fairly crowded. The cost was $4 per person. There are restrooms at the top and a small restaurant. It was nice to bring our dog.Written 4 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul & PierreToronto, Canada202 contributionsNice quiet beach location away from all the people. We went during high tide so we couldn’t walk the entire tale; however the natural beauty was well worth the visit.Written 25 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kaelan Y4 contributionsOur birding adventure at Oro Verde Reserve, guided by Samantha, was a true gem. Samantha's passion and expertise enriched the experience, making it both educational and enjoyable. The reserve's diverse birdlife, from toucans to hummingbirds, was a delight to discover.
The tour concluded with a delicious breakfast with an ocean view, adding a perfect finishing touch. Samantha's friendly guidance and insightful facts about each bird enhanced the overall experience, catering to both enthusiasts and newcomers.
This birding tour with Samantha is a must for nature lovers. With a knowledgeable guide, diverse bird species, and a delightful breakfast, this experience stands out. Highly recommended for an enriching encounter with nature!Written 6 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was a lot going on, great people watching, nude sunning/swimming if so desired......all natural!Written 16 March 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sue TVenice, FL57 contributionsAmazing work is done here! The volunteers care for the many cats and dogs. Everyone is compassionate and upbeat. We started as volunteers then adopted the first dog we tried (not too hard) to foster.Poloma is a love and El Refugio brought her back from the brink of starvation and ruin. We are so grateful!
Please donate to them. They help to get medical care not just for those they care for but procure rides for animals to and from the vet not in their care.
The community and the animals are fortunate to have them!Written 13 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Her art is beautiful, and you can tell she pours her heart into every piece.Written 26 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Linda CFort Wayne, IN139 contributionsFrom the moment you walk in, you feel welcome by both the staff and the atmosphere. Each dish is prepared fresh, and bread is made fresh daily for their sandwiches. Of course, the stars of the night were their craft beers that are the exclusive beers of the Envision Festival. It is a great opportunity, for conversations with other patrons!Written 26 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
