- Nick FGreece81 contributionsIt's hard to see from the street. The temple was built around the XV century, at that time Bulgaria was in the possession of the Ottoman Empire, Christians were allowed to build churches, but their height should not exceed the height of a rider sitting on a horse. That is why Christian churches of this period were built here in depth, not in height. The Church of the Holy Mother belongs to this category – inside it is much more spacious than it looks from the outside.Written 11 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AkridoSamokov, Bulgaria108 contributions€10 to look round a garden is a bit toppish but if you divide the price by the number of photos you take it looks much more reasonable. Everything is fairy-tale quirky and fun. Give it an hour for quick whisk round; longer if you are tempted to linger at one of the outdoor bars.Written 19 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nik RVarna, Bulgaria6,679 contributionsAlso known as the "Refugee Church", it was built about 130 years ago for the Bulgarian refugees from Edirne Thrace who settled in Sozopol at that time. The church is small and simple but has beautiful murals. It cannot be missed because it is located next to Sozopol's main square at the entrance to the Old Town. It is well worth paying it a short visit if you are around.Written 9 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - amberpipKildare, Ireland44 contributionsMy friends were married here.. Its a beautiful church with an epileptic feel. A must see. The decoration has a mixture of old and new.Written 15 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hristina W10 contributionsThis is the second time we visited. All in all a really nice place, clean and not overcrowded. Hardly any queues for the slides. It is a bit of a money pit. You can't bring in food or drink and choice is limited. 500 ml of raspberry lemonade cost 13 lev for example. One improvement that we enjoyed was the foam party. There is also pool gymnastics and a happy hour at the water bar. The reason I have given it 4 stars was the guy at the pool bar - very rude, no greeting or anything. Wated to be served for 20 minutes only to be told it is only 2 of them and I should have gone to the till to be served not sat in a chair. There were 3 customers there including ourselves. When asked what his name was he refused to give it. So not a happy hour really. Prepare to have fun, spend money and watch out for the guy at the pool bar.Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The northern walls are not as impressive as the southern walls which have been recently renovated but the views here are wilder and charming in their own way. The coast is as steep and rocky as everywhere around the Old Town of Sozopol but the views of the islands of St Ivan and St Peter is what I liked best. There are 2 boards at the gate giving very brief information about it.Written 10 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
