My grandparents were married in this church around 1920. This was the first time I visited the church and I was amazed at how beautiful it was. The outside hides the beauty found inside the walls.

Lovely town to visit. Authentically Italian with locals but welcoming to tourists Be prepared to use translation tool. Many smiles despite our language barrier. Cute little market with local crafts. Lots of hills. Parking and driving is very interesting. What seem like one way streets are 2 way.

This is the main civic museum in Castel di Sangro. It is located right on the Sangro river that runs thru the village. There are several sections of the museum and a few rotating exhibits. Some of the rooms are dedicated to the history of Castel di Sangro and Abruzzo going back to the pre Roman times, up thru the middle ages. The building is actually an old convent that the city took over and converted it into a museum. When we were there there was only a two euro entrance charge. One of the main reasons we went is because they have two rooms dedicated to fly fishing. There is an international fly tying and fly fishing school in Castel di Sangro and they assembled this very nice collection of fly tying, fishing equipment, and artwork about fly fishing. I would highly recommend a visit. Then go out and take a little walk along the river to experience this world famous trout fishing river in Italy. Castel di Sanagro is the headquarters for the Italian Fly Fishing Association.

This church is situated on the plaza in the middle of town. There is a large fountain in front of the church. It has three altars. All the churches we visited in Italy had beautiful art and sculptures inside.

Fascinating insight into fly fishing and flytying but there’s lots of other things to see in this fabulous building. So much detail everywhere, and entrance is free.
