Very quiet off season (great!) just what the Dr ordered. Restaurants all open and welcoming, serving lovely food.

After visiting the market we called into the bull ring out of interest. Fascinating insight. We toured the arena, pens, chapel and other areas. The old Spanish guides were very amenable despite not speaking any English ( why should they). I don’t agree with this tradition but non the less the arena tour was really interesting. Donations on leaving but no set price. Combine it with the Saturday morning market for a good few hours.

Central to the town with a late medieval church dominating one side of this busy Plaza. A good spot to stop for a refreshing beer or coffee, perhaps a snack, as the world slowly revolves around you.

We went to Aquavera and booked online prior to going which i highly recommend doing. It doesn’t open until 11am (which is odd to me but ok). When we arrived there was a HUGE queue but luckily, because we booked online we went straight in :)

Hire rubber rings/ tubes !!! We didn’t and Jesus, going on rides took ages. It feels like there’s only 10 rings in the park available to those who don’t hire.

Overall it was a nice waterpark, clean with a good amount of attractions and prices for food and drinks wasnt extortionate.

Probably one of the best sights to see in Vera and pretty much central to the town. The interior space is large and very attractive

Decided to climb up to Espiritu Santo after looking at it for 7 years, visiting Vera annually. There is wasteland parking but it’s quite tricky to find. You need to look for a single track incline on the left, as you head back into Vera from one of the roundabouts. There is a wooden signpost saying ‘Espiritu Santo’ at the start of the track.
We used ‘What3words’ when we got there: degradation.confer.vests. will get you to the car park near the first archway entrance.

As you walk round clockwise for a few minutes, you then have an option to go either way. Clockwise brings you to the small Museum building (Closed), retrace your steps and carry on anti-clockwise, to reach the top.
There is only one main way up so you can’t go wrong.

There are benches at certain points for rest breaks. Most of the way is wide stone steps, there are narrow metal staircases towards the very top. The Statue has a ledge for candle votives, flowers etc and the top area has metal safety barriers around it. Good for fantastic views in all directions. Allow at least 20 minutes to get to the top. It’s not a 10 min stroll.

I wouldn’t say it’s intimidating (the area, in another post) just be aware you are in a poorer area with visible shanty town-like huts, as well as Villas and Corjitos.

We went up in mid Sept and we’re the only ones. The only other people we saw were Archaeologists, working near the bottom of the monument. We’re glad we went, don’t be put off :))

What an absolutely horrible scary man. I left a less positive (but not completely negative) review for his too expensive shop which is almost empty. He’s started harassing me now. He’s telling me I’m lying (I’m not), send me messages where he keeps saying I’m lying and now I passed him in a shop, and he almost started screaming at me that I’m lying. Better live without bitterballen and hagelslag then go to this mans shop.

These guys, Gema and Carlos, really know how to get the best out of you, and all the sweat in the process.

As pro as it gets, Kooks offers all the machines and devices you need to work out and get a dream body. It also offers dance classes of pretty much every style, from hip hop to zumba.

If in doubt and not in love with your shape, this is your placer.
