We hadn't been for a number of years, and thoroughly enjoyed our trip - but we didn't give ourselves enough time to do everything! We arrived at midday and stayed til closing time, but should have arrived at opening time (10am) - and would have been back had we had more time staying in the area.
We only got one tram ride (going back to the main entrance at the end of the day) as it was a reasonably busy Saturday (so the buses and trams were pretty busy) and walked round round what we had time to.
The 1950s areas didn't exist last time we visited and we enjoyed looking round this area.
We had lunch in the cafe in the 1900s town. My uncle had jacket potato, husband had beef sandwich, and grandparents and I had soup. All of it was really nice. The soup came with a really good chunk of bread!

I'd recommend either spending all day there to do/see everything, or multiple short visits over a few days. I'd also say to make use of the transport wherever possible as it's a big site!

This is a very pleasant walk through a woodland area that run alongside a railway heritage line. Pieceful and relaxing. Some parts can be tricky because of the ground.

We came as strangers and left as friends.
Lovely, intimate venue and cafe with super-friendly staff and regulars. A real hidden gem in sleepy Stanley!

A very well maintained trail. Great for walking and cycling. Lots of places along route to park so access is easy to do just a section of the path. Would be good for pushchairs/wheelchairs too. Some parts across rather exposed moorland make for fabulous views but also prone to strong winds!

This is a monthly get together in a pleasant surround.
The cafe is basic, clean and quiet...no bothersome music playing in the background.
Diners can choone to stay outside in dedicated seating areas or indoors in an airy cafe. The service is good and the food is tasty.
On this occasion, we had coffee and cheese scones.
The venue is very clean and customers are encouraged to follow safeguarding measures such as masks, cleaning of hands and social distancing.
There is a gift shop and educational literature linked to the nature walks there abouts.
The visitors and customers were a wide range of age groups, couples, and families.
My only disappointment was the lack of baby changing facilities as both access toilets are large enough to install this essential facility.

Hi I am local to the Louisa centre and can walk I enjoy allowing my children to use and enjoy Stanley facilities instead of always leaving the area although I do often use the softplay and swimming I feel it is overpriced the softplay is same price as bigger in area and older part only open after 3.30pm the age on equipment is rediculas a two year old could use the over 5 year side nothing there . The swimming time table for small pool for public swim is a joke we are encouraged to spend time as a family swim and get exercise but the very restricted time we are allowed to do so means most people in area use nearby birtley and chester or street swimming pools

We were here for a party our kids who are 6 and 10 were invited to. The place is not huge but really good value. The football area is a great touch and I think there was a bowling alley and go karts up stairs. It was very busy as you would expect. The food looked lovely and huge portions. The staff were really friendly and it was quite well organised. Only issue for me was the parking and access. I don’t walk well and sometimes use a scooter / wheelchair. There were 2 disabled bays, not too close to the entrance but they were parked in by people without a badge. Not the places fault just ignorant people who don’t care for others needs. They have tried to build a ramp to the door but it’s a bit uneven and has concrete steps on 2 levels either side. I was dropped off at the door as that was the only way I could get in. A nice place with a fair but to do, great staff just need to make a little more disabled friendly outside for parents like me who are disabled.

Have visited the Golf Club a number of times over the last few months and left with the desire to return Soon.
The Chef “ Neil Timbey “ provides excellent quality Food and service at competitive prices.
This is backed up by a well stocked Bar and again very good value. Gemma always gives a warm welcome to everyone.
Well worth a visit and no signs of any “ golf club stigma “ smart casual and Jeans no problem.
Children welcome, best to Book in advance with the Kitchen / Bar.
