The Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Monteallegro was built i 1558. From 1934 a cable car was built joining it to Rapallo.
There are many paintings and sculptures by famous artists inside. Whilst we were there a mass was being celebrated at lunchtime attended by about ten parishioners.
A short stop is recommended in this quite and peaceful shrine as part of your visit to Monteallegro

This castle sits beautifully along Rapallo's beach front.

It is the main symbol of the town and it has been declared as a national monument by the Cultural Ministry. A mediaeval castle that was built in 1551 after an incursion by the Turkish pirate Dragut in 1549.

Fantastic views all along the coast from the cable car and very good value at 10 Euros each.
Nice walks at the top but these could be better signposted

Nice beach close to Rapallo. We used sunbeds but there is also a pretty big public beach in the area. Good value for money and great surroundings!

We came back here, so it cannot be bad.
The center is not big, but is a nice pattern of hitorical buildings and sights, shops and restaurants.
It's a pity that the center is divided from the sea and promenade by a busy road.
The fact that there were events in the center (Rapallo Musica) made it more attractive than last time.

very scenic and pleasant walk with many photo stops. Enjoy a cocktail or coffee at the many cafes along the way. A must do if you are in Rapallo. There is a small medieval castle and a very good wine bar serving local platters and drinks just across from it. The cable car to Monteallegro is a must. if you are travelling by car you can park right near it, get a ticket from the booking office and leave it on your dashboard. If you are travelling by train the station is right close to the town.

The ‘red carpet’ may be long gone but the walk truly is spectacular! We walked from Rapallo to Portofino - about 10 km and returned by ferry. There are challenging bits, for sure, but nothing disappoints! The views are glorious - the walk along “The Path of Kisses” portion winds thru a densely wooded area that of higher elevation. So glad we took on the challenge.

Came across this band rotunda while walking on the sea front of Rapallo after dinner. The richly decorated ceiling stood even more that evening as it was well-lit (congratulations to whoever installed the lighting setup) as you can see from our photos!

The basilica of the Saints Gervasio e Protasio is a Catholic church and was originally built in the Middle Ages and in the Gothic-Romanesque style.
Over the following decades and centuries, various alterations and modifications took place.
A new interior and facade in neoclassical style were made in the seconf half of the 19th century, followed by a rebuilding of the church in the beginning of the 20th century.
The cathedral itself is worth a visit but can, however, not compete with older and more historical churches.
Admission is free, but a (small) donation will always be appreciated.

Two sisters, Attilia and Tiba Malfanti, in 1204 , donated the this land for the construction of a female monastery of Cistercian order.
In 1572 the monastery was closed because few nuns remained and it was too far from the city.
The church vas deconsacrated in the same year.
For more than 200 years the monastery was used as residence for farmers, after this period , no one remained to live, with the total abandonment, the interperias an the vegetation have reduced the monastery in this state.
