- browngirl06Greater London, UK344 contributionsAmazing experience, make sure you get an English speaking guide. So emotional and glad I got to experience it. I highly recommend this tour guide who we went with. Contact him on what’s app and tell him Raymar London recommended 🤩

There was no queue so we went straight in and the view from the top of the monument was unforgettable. Well worth the visit. If you can’t face the climb up the steps at the front of the monument you can either walk up the road at the rear or take a car up to the top if you have limited mobility. A memorable visit.Written 5 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Musicians Mum608 contributionsVisited (and stayed one night) as part of a tour.
Short ferry ride (always fun on a ferry eh?) from Dakar port.
Small population reliant on tourism (mainly day trips) and fishing. One can see many reminders that this was one of the major embarkation points for the slave trade run by numerous European countries .
The day we went (Monday) the museum was closed .
The are some interesting memorials.
As well as the history of slavery, one can see ,on the hilltop ,the gun emplacement that was the rangefinder for the Dakar batteries in WW2, when the Vichy administration were in charge and the Allies and the Free French attacked to try and take control of the port (but lost the battle and ships)Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We pitched our tents and at night star gazed into the incredible display of constellations. The day was spent snorkeling off the reef side avoiding the lure of sharks that swam in the distance. I am saddened it is an overpriced tourist trap 50 years later. I shall not return because I was planning to revisit Senegal for the sake of my fond memories living there from 1972 thru 1974 while attending L'ecole des Peres Maristes, yes my formative years were french sans anglais mes amis!Written 11 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rose.CLondon, UK27 contributionsWell worth a visit but if you get a shared taxi make sure you ask where they are going, they might leave you at Kebemer and you need to get another taxi for the last 20/25 minutes of the journey. This should cost 600-700CFA (not 6000 which they might ask for!) If you book a private taxi it will cost about 50,000CFA each way (but they might pick up other people anyway)Written 13 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChinyeOPort Harcourt, Nigeria34 contributionsA good place for art lovers. There are works from different artists on different media. Talking with the artists was also very enlightening.Written 13 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MadhumbeLondon, UK192 contributionsWe went on a dull day so the lake was not Rosa. We didn't let it dampen our spirits while we where there. Went round the lake and yes touts were there but that's the normal.
We have never quad biked before so we did this thru the 'forest' area and the beach.
It was a good laugh.

We visited a couple of times and enjoy walking through or seriously bargaining to buy stuff… Either way was fun!Written 27 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StotheNStockholm, Sweden547 contributionsThis one is very close to the African renaissance monument. The story has it that it was divined into place after appearing in a local man's dream. The building spells out the name of muslim god.Written 4 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Vincent M6 contributionsThese people were super accommodating even though I speak no French. They suggested different options for me to get in 1 good dive while I was in the Dakar.
We were a little late in starting but the owner went out of his way to find me equipment that fit perfectly, even opening a new shipment that had just arrived.
Dive master was good and carefully explained our dive.
They might improve slightly on the process for getting dive gear into the boat, which requires stepping over unsteady rocks.Written 4 December 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
