What travellers are saying
- wireless_in_CAUnited States4,994 contributionsThis was another great park in Kirkland with boardwalks and trails where we saw a variety of wildlife and enjoyed the scenery.
The boardwalks were split in an East and West Nature Trail and both extended out to Juanita Bay. The boardwalk was well maintained . Besides the occasional mosquito it was mostly bug free during our walk.
We saw quite a few different birds including a very active woodpecker, beaver who was constantly feeding him/herself, snapping turtles and fishes. There were lots of labeled plants and trees throughout and if you go to the park website it listed over 3 pages of different types. Quite amazing how much variety can be seen here.
The main walkway had two interpretive centers located at each end. We found out about the park founders, original people that lived here and of course more details about the wildlife. On some days there are sponsored wildlife walks by the Audubon Society.
Dogs were allowed in the park as long as they were leashed. Quite a few were out walking with their humans.
The parking lot seemed small and likely will fill up quickly on a weekend.

- FiftyFifty5050Montgomery, UK884 contributionsEverything a library should be, with knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff.
My other half and I are visiting from the UK for a couple of months and, unable to bring sufficient reading material and stay within my luggage allowance, I paid a visit to the Kirkland branch of the King County library and they helped me apply for a Visitor's library card, giving me access to the system.
I can borrow up to five books at a time, I can use the computers in house and also have a weekly allowance of printing, should I need it, which could prove useful for boarding passes when we leave.
There is an impressive supply of magazines and journals, and a variety of areas and seating where one can sit and read them.
Coming from a very rural area of the UK, the facilities on hand here seem just wonderful; lots of books 'in store' and also the facility to request a title from within the King County system and put it 'on hold'. An online log in will keep you updated on the progress of your request and you can pick it up inside the library or have it delivered to lockers outside (rather like the lockers that online retailers use).
There are also wall safes on the outside of the building so that you can check in books when the library is closed.
We have been thrown by the opening hours on a couple of occasions, best to check in advance of a visit. For instance the library is closed all day on a Saturday, but is then open on Sundays and, during the week, the opening times vary to give people working 9-5 the opportunity to visit after work.
Plenty of free parking right outside, toilets and a meeting room available.
Oh and the building is lovely, high vaulted ceilings, lots of glass and light.

That being said, little certainly isn't the most apt word, as you can easily stroll for a few hours and get a sizeable, nearly 15 mile hike going from end to end and back again. We had a wonderful time walking about half of it and back, and I would highly recommend doing so if you have a couple of hours on a nice day.Written 8 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FiftyFifty5050Montgomery, UK884 contributionsWe are staying in Kirkland from the UK and discovering more of the locality than our last visit, when we were snowed in for quite a few days.
There is something very 'American' about the appearance of the car park. Our daughter, now living in Kirkland, asked me to clarify, intrigued as to what my idea of 'American' was, but it is difficult to put into words.
The car park has been carefully fitted into the woodland - no trees were felled in the production of this car park - all looking very rustic, but also with facilities such as toilets, paved pathways, lots of benches (I love to read the dedications on benches - eg: 'to a wife, mother, warrior', and a selection of grills for outdoor picnics, including a covered picnic area.
There is a good balance between rural and natural cf offering facilities for the modern family, from skimming stones right by the water's edge to walking in the woods.
A lovely public facility so close to the town.Written 16 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We went on the record-breaking heat wave weekend (along with every other human being within 20 miles, it felt like), and just sat in the shade to cool off. It's remarkably clean, nice, and spacious (when there aren't a million people there).Written 2 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeff BSeattle, WA1,040 contributionsFive of us brought lunch in with us on a Sunday and had beers. Location in downtown Kirkland.
AMBIENCE: 3.5. Purely urban setting, sitting among concrete, steel, and wood, either within the glass-enclosed interior or outside. View between buildings toward the western sky. Pleasant.
SERVICE: 4.5. One server. His recommendations were very good, and he was constantly busy keeping the place clean by clearing tables and emptying the trash bins.
BEERS: 4.0. Had a 4-beer sampler. Beers actually on tap were not consistent with those listed on the website, so had to swap out two. All were fine, and I was especially happy that a pilsner was available.Written 7 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It definitely has one of the longest zip lines in a public park, in this area at least. It also has a cool feature I've never seen before, a giant yellow slope for sliding. Many people had cardboard boxes or sleds of some sort to go down the slope. It has 4 regular swings, 2 baby swings and now a disc swing. It also has a hammock swing of sorts.Written 9 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jason HennigRenton, WA354 contributionsThis could be an amazing, lovely park. And, to its credit, it absolutely is on its own merit; it's clean, it's in a nice location, and other reviewers have already detailed the amenities and activities. The one trouble with it is that it is a fairly small park and it gets REALLY crowded. At a park with slim parking and limited space, this can creep quickly into enough of an inconvenience that it can make a less than perfect experience.Written 16 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul_K_OregonPortland, OR548 contributionsWould never have found this place without our son taking us, the location means that it’s not going to get much traffic. The ambience is relaxed, and dare I say, cultured. Good place for couples or friends to have a conversation. Sports on the tv. The beers we tried 3, were all good. Loved it.Written 26 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
