My review is about Royal Caribbeans customer service. I cancelled 1/4 of the people on my cruise, and was told that I would receive $777 back. I clarified multiple times before hanging up. After hanging up I received the confirmation email, where they cancelled the wrong guests and credited me less than 1/2 what I was promised. I called back, after speaking to them for over an hour I was told customer service would look into it, listen to the call and if the representative did indeed tell me I would get the $777 refund, that I would receive it. Several days later they contacted me to tell me that I would only receive the difference in an onboard credit. I explained that there were multiple errors and I was told I would receive the credit once they listened to the recorded conversation. The person told me he was shocked when he heard the conversation because I did clarify multiple times and was promised that, and was promised it as the remedy a second time but that’s all they could do. Given the amount of errors, I feel that it was handled poorly and basically I’m low stuck spending that much more money on board which is ridiculous. Unacceptable customer service; they just lie and don’t provide proper remedies. I’d think twice before booking with Royal Caribbean ever again.

The Adventure of the Seas is an older vessel which has been updated with newer amenities (e.g. Flow rider, water slides, etc.). The service was top notch and the entertainment was ok. My biggest gripe is the quality of food. I been on 4 other cruises between 2007 and 2013 with NCL (1), Disney (1), and Carnival (2) and don't remember ever being critical of the food. Anyways the Windjammer food is not the best, it's the same stuff, not much in seafood, and most of the time it's bland or overcooked. The dining room meals were much better, but the selection seemed limited. Often, the same dishes were offered up. Seems like RC is focusing on trying to extract as much money possible from customers via their +$$ restaurants. The best day was the private island Coco Cay and the South Beach. I'm going to pass on cruising again with RC because it felt like a money grab from the $25 to rent out a float at the beach, exorbitant price for the water slide at Coco Cay, etc., even $25 for Advil at the General Store.

We had an amazing experience with our RCCL adventure! I would give it 4.5 stars. Where to start? This was my first cruise and i was traveling with my teen girl scout troop and a couple of adults. This was their big trip we were doing to celebrate aging and almost coming to an end of girl Scouts. We traveled on Adventure of the Seas July 22-29. This was all but one persons first cruise. We had 4 port days and 4 sea days. The whole experience beforehand was feeling a little bit overwhelming but it all ended up being fine. We arrived at port everglades in florida. We easily got through the check in line. Be sure if you are traveling with minors who are not yours that you fill out the Royal caribbean specific form prior to traveling and get it notarized by both yourself and the parent. Also if you have different last name than your child due to divorces and remarriage or for any other reason, be sure to also bring your childs birth certificate. Read through their handbook well before you go to see if there is anything else you may need to know. Our room was clean and well attended. Everything looked amazing! Janu our houskeeper was friendly, remembered all of our names even on day 1 and always greeted us with a smile! He did a wonderful job! If you are traveling with multiple people in your room, be sure to bring a charger that can charge multiple devices at once. There are only 2 plug ins in your room. I got one of these for our room and it worked out wonderfully. Our phones and devices charged at a good speed. If you want wi-fi, get the package in advance as it will be cheaper! We had a few that got the wi-fi package and they were happy with it. RC does have an app that you can communicate with others in your party at no cost to you, you will just need to be on their free wifi which will let you use their app. It was easy to use, but glitchy at times. Also if you want drink packages - alcoholic, non alcoholic or coffee get it in advance! It is less expensive beforehand. We had a few girls that got the non alcoholic package and also the coffee package. The ones with the package were constantly downing the drinks all day long. The girls who got the coffee package did not end up using all the punches for their cards but they were happy to have them in advance. If you want fitness classes, also you will need to get that in advance or pay more for it. They have a 3 class pass and also a unlimited class pass. I would think about how much you will use it and how many sea days there are and if you are doing excursions or staying on the boat. 2 of my scouts got the 3 class pass so they could do a class on each sea day, i got the unlimited but knew i would do back to back classes. There are no evening classes other than a free evening stretch class that you dont need the pass for. So if you are not going to do back to back classes and you are going on excursions, most likely you will just need a 3 class pass. They do have a fitness center with lots of cardio machines and weight machines. I spent a fair amount of time in the fitness center. I had to go to guest services at one point to check on if they would have gluten free cupcake for my daughter, I had emailed in advance but wanted to ask in person to confirm. Our experience with guest services was that they were very friendly and helpful. The lines were VERY long on first and 2nd day so if you are going to visit them i would do it right when you board or wait until later in the trip if possible. Food : If you are gluten free, vegetarian, vegan or a combo of any of the above - be sure to email in advance! To make sure they know in advance. I highly recommend making traditional dining reservations. You will get the same waitstaff every night and also an assigned table. This was very nice. They get to know you and your preferences. Our wait staff - Samantha and Mark were above and beyond over the top great! Also Luis the person in charge of the dining room was also absolutely amazing! Our group was a high maintenance group - we had a gluten free person, a gluten free/vegetarian, a gluten free/vegan and then a couple of VERY picky teens. The first night was a little rough as we tried to figure things out, but after that things got better. They gave those of us with dietary needs a menu each night and pre-ordered and then they had stuff ready to go for us the next evening. Samantha worked really hard and had a consistent upbeat attitude. You could tell she was a professional and worked extremely hard. Mark was the assistant and he kept us hydrated and table cleared. Luis was also very professional and did a great job in taking care of us! While i was off my regular diet, I greatly appreciated everything they did to accomodate us! They do have breakfast and lunch available as well if you wish to eat there. We opted to eat in the windjammer so we could just come when we wanted.

I will share a review in 5 categories: 1) Vessel Fit/Finish 2) Vessel Amenities/Activities 3) Stateroom 4) Service/Staff 5) Ports of Call Rating Scale: 1-5 (5 Highest) Below are sole opinions of my own. I have completed three cruises with Royal Caribbean. 1) Vessel Fit/Finish = 2 My impression is this is a low priority boat for Royal Caribbean. It is in need of a refresh for basic fit/finish (it shows age) 2) Vessel Amenities/Activities = 2 This is a small boat in comparison to Mariner and Independence. It seems far too small to entertain for 7 night cruise. It lacks some what some larger vessels would have like additional retail, VR activities on the sports deck, escape room, etc. 3) Stateroom = 4 This is the 3rd balcony room I've had with RC - it checked all of the minimum criteria boxes (got what I was expecting). The only feedback I would share is that the mattress was hard and the intercom system was not working (i.e., we could not hear ship announcements unless we were outside of the stateroom) 4) Service/Staff = 5+ No fall-off in exceptional and friendly service/staff. Everyone is excellent as I've come to expect from RC. They go above/beyond. 5) Ports of Call = 5+ St. Croix Proceed to Rainbow Beach (1.5M from boat). Cab is $20. You can rent beach chairs from them. Great beach (a little rocky). They have restrooms, gift shop, walk-up bar and an open air restaurant. Great people work there (mostly people from the 48). You might avoid Frederick's Beach - they can't rent you beach chairs unless you booked it through an excursion and it looks a bit "state park'ish" (made-up). I talked to a few people on our cruise that went there and they didn't care for it. Tortola Proceed to Cane Garden Bay. Exit the boat, catch an open air shuttle over the mountain - go early. You can rent beach chairs from them - rental includes Wi-Fi (it works). They have drink service and food service. They know how to run a beach - beautiful - a lot of fun. After the beach come back to the dock area and shop at Pier Park before getting back onto the boat Coco Cay Always Augusta National like (pristine). Rent a day bed on Chill Isand (a little coin but well worth it). Comes with a cooler of water bottles and two floats. It's just well worth it and near the bar and food area. I've been to other areas on the island but personally prefer Chill Beach because it's "chill". There are some other areas that are more "high energy" if that's your thing. Summary - I would suggest RC keep this itinerary but consider using a larger vessel. Cheers!

Booked trip in February and bought RC travel insurance. A month before the cruise a heart cath detected three blockages which meant heart by pass.. we had to cancel the trip on advice of doctor and the closeness to the date of surgery, Royal Caribbean refused to honor the insurance and instead of refunding the $10,000 paid gave us “ship credit” for 90% . Non transferable and must be used within a year. Excuse: “ existing health issue .” Hello , if We’d known of the “ surprise” blockages, we not have booked the trip. Asymptomatic until the heart cath detected the issue in June. Advice: Cruise with someone else and never purchase the ship line trip insurance but one from an outside company who has “ cancel for any reason for full refund” type insurance. Will probably have to litigate to receive my cash settlement from Royal Caribbean .
