Our "vacation" on the Carnival Magic was among the worst experiences of my life. We got the drink package and rather than enjoying myself, I felt under attack for the entire cruise.

Cabins are good, crew member and service from them is excellent, the ship is clean ..they do a good job… if you cruise in Royal Caribbean before and this is your first Carnival you are downgrading..do not expect same food or buffet you find in Royal Caribbean.. not even the pizza is better ..Carnival hide the bacon …I know bacon is expensive now but please!!!! If you like bacon be prepare to ask for it …Be prepare for a big line everywhere….so if you don’t like lines please schedule your self…the theatre…almost no shows… inn8 days I only see a show that by the way was very good ( magi’s show ) …and no inside movies…movies are all outside…..I take in consideration that is an older ship….i will give Carnival a second chance in a newer cruise in the future …..the places we visit were beautiful and the excursions were organized and everything went smoothly….i have to give 5 Stars to Guys Pit BBQ and Guys Burgers….the food was amazing….and is included at no extra charge but be early otherwise the line gets crazy …..

We cruised from February 8-12 on Carnival Magic from Long Beach to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada and back. We were booked for dinner on the "On your time" and inevitably had to wait to be seated. Once seated, there was usually 20 minutes in between courses and the food was inevitably cold and substandard. I ordered a pear cake with raspberry drizzle and the cake was hard enough to be used for a hockey puck. The "drizzle" was so hard that you couldn't move it much less eat it. The breakfast buffet lacked enough food and what was available was hardly edible. There was ONE PERSON making omelets for the entire ship! The omelets were wonderful, but I felt sorry for the poor cook trying to keep up. What happened??? We are VIP customers and have loved cruising with Carnival until this last time. It was bad enough to question whether or not we would choose this cruise line in the future.

Most excellent stay on carnival magic March 8-17 to the caribbean out of Miami. Food was abundant and tasty, room was quiet, spacious, and cozy with little rocking felt (lots of closet space and2 bathrroms, room 1362), and ship was very clean. My kids had SO MUCH FUN and they loved the O2 program for kids their age (15 and 17). We felt safe the entire time and really really enjoyed this cruise. Adults area was quiet and apprecicated- a desginated adults only pool would be suggestion (or a cold hot tub) as hot tubs were too warm really to enjoy on the hot sunny days. Food- different meats every day which were always so tasty (e.g., roast beefs, ham, turkey) with lots of sides and gravies and of course salad bar and pastries/rolls etc. Fresh home made soups also lovely and we all quite enjoyed the bbq and pizza stations. The burger station was also a hit. We did not get the bubbles pop package and just had the juices and water that was readily available. The mongolian grilll was ok but the line up was too long to do regularly. TIP: water from bars or room service tastes way better than drink stations around pool. Take a water jug and fill up for day. You can also get bottles of water for cheap at your ports. Jake the director did a wonderful job and the activities were endless--kids are still talking about his antics and jokes. The singing and dancing at level 5 were so fun as were the deck parties and the daily bingo games. We will absolutely be doing this again. The chocolate lava melting cake (sit down restaurants) is probably the best thing I've ever eaten LOL--defintely try it you will why. Room service in the morning is included and was a perfect to enjoy a quiet relaxed start to the day. Servers were all so friendly and attentive as were houskeeping staff (Johnny was the best!). Suggestion to Carnival: consider offering some cruises which spread out port days to every other day so we get some rest in between ports and don't have to wake up early each day or rush out after a late night of fun entertainment. I have heard this is an older ship but you would never know it. It was impeccibly clean and just fabulous!

We have cruised before on Royal Caribbean, but this was our first time on a Carnival, and with 2 teenage children. We weren’t sure what to expect, but we came home from this 8-night cruise happy. We booked connecting staterooms on Deck 6. The rooms are just off the mid ship elevator, on the inner aisle (Rooms 63xx). We loved the location as there are no rooms across the aisle from us, so it was pretty quiet. And the rooms are actually bigger than we expected. Plenty of storage space, and the empty suitcases fit nicely under the bed. One thing though - it’s directly above the casino, so we heard announcements at night, sometimes up to midnight. Not a big deal if you’re awake anyway. Food is aplenty, and basically around the clock. We loved the main dining room’s breakfast, brunch, dinner, and tea services. Dinner menus were wonderful, giving us chances to try some food that we had never tried before - Escargots, Beef carpaccio, Frog legs, Swordfish, Barramundi, and Duck. Thank you. Sometimes there were lines on Lido Deck for the various food outlets, but never too long. Crew always kept the whole ship clean and tidy. We really appreciated their service. Our kids loved the ropes course. We loved the Serenity 21+ area. A nice surprise to us was we really enjoyed the art displays and auctions. We didn’t win anything but learned a lot. Thank you, Carnival. The nightly entertainment was fantastic. One of the highlights of our cruise was our 3 dining room servers (Luis from Mexico, and Syahrul and Safii from Indonesia), and our room attendant I Ketut from Indonesia. Thank you very much, Gentlemen.
