I took this cruise with friends and this one was different and better than the one we were on in January of this year. The sailing was amazing as the captain of the vessel kept it smooth and not a bad voyage at all. The ship food was good on most days. I only dined in the Lincoln Restaurant on the formal night. The prime rib was amazingly delicious. The only downside is not enough food. Most of the crew was great and I met a couple of them by name. Linn, one of the servers at of table (563) on the first sail night around 7:30 - 8 pm. Patience from Zimbabwe, in the commons dining area was a charm. Very cordial and friendly. Nichole from Jamaica, the best part of my cruise. I enjoyed our conversation and she is definitely a gem to Carnival. I would like to see her get a position in Guest Services because she has a great personality and attitude towards people. Last but not least our room steward was very nice, thorough and very friendly with taking care of our room each day. We were in cabin number 6274. We thoroughly enjoyed our sail on this great vessel and would definitely recommend it and would cruise on it again. Kudos to everyone who played an amazing and important role in our journey.

I am giving the review a 2 star only because the dining staff was so amazing. We had two staterooms, one for my husband and me, the other for our adult children. Next to our kids' staterooms was someone who partied all hours off the day and night listening to very vulgar music on a speaker as loud as it would go and then yelling over it with her friends on the balcony. The first night we complained, security showed up about 30 minutes later. The partiers had finally settled down by that time (about 1:30 am, after about an hour and a half of partying). The second night they started at about 2:30 in the morning after shouting down the hall then attending their balcony for another fun filled night. Security came again and this time after about 30 minutes of tapping on the loud parties door for their attention someone finally came to the door (I'm not sure how he got their attention, maybe one of the people stepped out to yell in the hallway?). He let them know Carnivals company's policy that after three noise complaints, they will be removed from the ship. The next day, the girl confronted me asking if she was too loud. I informed her that indeed she was since she had to yell over her music for people to hear each other. The third night they partied for a short time but with the music quieter so no noise complaints were made. You cannot request to be moved to a different stateroom because it will not be granted. Back to the first night, once we were awoken, my husband moved his arm from under his pillow and saw blood under it. Neither of us were bleeding. When we opened the sheets, there was another blood spot further down by where his knee would be. After about twenty minutes someone came to change our sheets. Finally by about 2:00 am we were able to lay down. They gave us chocolate covered strawberries the next day to make up for the biohazard of a room they provided us with. Our new sheets that replaced the blood stained sheets had a grease looking stain on them. That stain remained for the full five days which means that our sheets were not changed for the full duration of our cruise (it was five days). The Valor smelled and looked like it was burning oil which made using the balcony difficult. There was intermittent black smoke. It smelled like an old car that burned more oil than it did gas. But we paid for a balcony, I wanted to use it. While sitting out on the balcony there was a cockroach there enjoying the view as well. Needless to say it was not a great experience. The good things from the trip, the dining staff was amazing and the only reason why our steward received a tip at all. The man who brought shots in the dining room was probably the best person Carnival has ever had work for them, he was friendly, funny, and a really nice person. The excursion with the wibets (water jump castles), catamaran, and snorkeling was great. This is the second time we have done this excursion and both times was amazing.

This was our first cruise in 20 years. We enjoyed our time on the Valor. Yes, it is an older ship, but we enjoyed ourselves and made the most of our time. PROS- Our cabin steward was the absolute best! If you are lucky enough to have Angel as your steward, you are truly blessed. He always remembered our names (amazing when rooms turn over every 4-7 days) and went out of his way to help when needed. Carnival, you need to promote this gentlemen!! The music was fantastic onboard, and I really enjoyed the violinists! They were the best violin players that I have ever had the pleasure to listen to! I also appreciate them taking my music request. Games, such as trivia, was a blast! Our family also enjoyed the comedy shows. The Dive-In movies each night were great, my kids loved it and the pool wasn't crowded/seats were easy to find. Great service by wait staff in the mornings and evenings in the Washington and Lincoln dining rooms! Very comfortable bed and pillows! We had a late arrival time and embarkation went super fast, we breezed right through the lines and onto the ship! Our kids enjoyed the hidden rubber ducks throughout the ship! Our son ended up with 7. Camp Ocean was amazing! My daughter loved it! They are very safety cautious and had so many fun activities for the kids! Sea Day Brunch in the main dining room was fabulous! Don't skip it! The food was phenomenal! CONS- The room could get a little warm in the evenings. A fan is a must to help circulate the air. I didn't notice this being a problem in the rest of the common ship areas. Only one electrical outlet in the rooms was a problem. Our party of 5 all needed to charge our phones in the evening plus needed a fan. Bring an extension! Debarkation was a little time consuming. Keep luggage with you to expedite the process and pray for an early muster station (you are called to disembark early by muster station, starting with A....we were G). The layout of the ship can be difficult to figure out and navigate at times. Very crowded pools and pool areas during the heat of the day (find inside activities to do then hit the pool in the evening for the Dive-In Movie).

First cruise after COVID and maybe it's just like this now, but we could smell weed every day, either through the vents in our suite or on our balcony. It was also too warm in the room and you can't control that, we tried. They said it's centrally-controlled and they couldn't make it colder than 72.5. Food was good, especially at the steakhouse (which is extra $$$). Not enough pools and the ones they had are SMALL. Lots of loud people (kids and adults) making noise in the halls at night. We were awoken every night in our grand suite. We paid for premium wi-fi and it never worked right, sometimes not at all and pretty much never in our suite. They seem to know it's a problem because they refunded me the full cost, no questions asked. The drinks seemed VERY weak. Service was excellent, both by our suite attendant and at dinner as well as at the bars. Boarding and debarking were VERY smooth, about 15-20 minutes from getting out of the car to being on the ship, both ways. As for Mexico, CONFIRM the USD to pesos conversion on everything you buy. One shop in Cozumel screwed us by $40 and when we brought it to their attention within a minute of leaving the store, they refused to allow a return or refund, so we had to take it up with our credit card company. Progreso looks like Beirut but has a pretty, free beach. Still, it doesn't seem ready for tourists just yet. Maybe in another five years. The entertainment on board was just okay. And the worst thing, according to my wife, is they serve PEPSI. No Coke products to be found on board, lol.

Just got back from sailing out of New Orleans on Carnival Valor 4 day to Cozumel. I commend the staff...very friendly and hard working! A big shout out to Troy & Cassandra..they served breakfast & lunch on the Lido deck & dinner in the Washington dining room at night..they worked so hard to make our experience better! We sailed on the ship Valor..showing its age definitely but was kept clean. Food was very disappointing. Our issues were with the age group 20-30/35 year olds that seemed to be Carnival's target audience...to the exclusion of others...and too loud. We were on the Lido deck inside the AC dining room and still couldn't have a conversation. This particular group had the opinion they shouldn't have to follow rules..shouldn't have to stand in line with others...we saw people heap their plates with food..take a couple of bites then leave it. So wasteful...I wish we had known that cruising with Carnival has changed so much..there used to be great stage shows...shorter lines...better food. If we had known we could have made a better decision to spend our vacation dollars elsewhere.
