Worst cruise we never got to take because when they canceled our cruise they decided not to give us our money back for 90 days. We finished paying for this in February and we’re supposed to leave on a cruise for Alaska today. We would have given them another chance if they had promptly returned our money but instead, our money is unavailable to us but they are able to use it. Worst customer service because when I try to call in I can’t even get anyone to speak to me about this!

We had a lovely time all in all. The cruise ship itself was very well equipped and had a great choice of entertainment, things to do, restaurants, and space to walk. It took us 2 full days to discover the territory. traveling with my wife I faced no trouble myself but having talked to some families I found out the lines for children attractions take from 30 minutes to 2 hours to get in.

We were set to sail on the Bliss to Alaska. We were supposed to make our final payment March 7th, but due to Covid, asked for a 30 day extension to make final payment, which was granted Prior to the 7th of April, our cruise was cancelled by Norwegian due to Covid. Norwegian has since refused to return our deposit money offering only a credit for future travel. They cancelled the cruise, why they won't return our deposit money is beyond me. They think they're being generous offering it for future cruising, but with the bad taste in our mouth, Norwegian is the last cruise line we'll ever be taking.

We had an amazing Alaska Cruise from Seattle. Our itinerary included Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, and Ketchikan. In Juneau, we enjoyed the Tram Tour. We also took a walk through town and went to a couple of their cafes. We had a superb time. We also saw whales. In Ketchikan, we took the train. This was our second trip. It was so fun to do. We then had a fun crab lunch at Burro Creek Lodge. This was a small group and we were blessed by having a former Governor and several from his party at our event. The crab was so good. We enjoyed the waterfalls, the views, the electric power house tour, and of course the crab lunch. They had s'mores after lunch which one made over the fire. In Ketchikan we also took the small bus tour and walked through town. We also went to the Red Onion Saloon. In Ketchikan we had a wonderful time going salmon fishing. All members of our party caught salmon. We also saw many whales. We also went to Victoria. Although we had just a few hours there we did a city tour and also went to the TWA Dogs Brewery Tour. Both were quite fun. Our room was a spa suite. We had a comfortable bed and suite. We enjoyed the shows and entertainment. We loved the view lounge. We usually had breakfast there; then lunch at the buffet (Good salad bar), and then had dinner at one of the Fine Dining Restaurants. We had a wonderful time and have been on several Alaskan cruises. We highly recommend the NCL Joy. We enjoyed the spa - I did two facials and a rock massage. Delightful. The exercise room was also a joy and the instructor there was top noth.

Service Date, Flag, Size and Home Port Norwegian Bliss is considered an active large passenger ship and it is the fourth built in the Breakaway Plus Class of cruise ships for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NCL). Norwegian Bliss is the sister ship to Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Encore. NCL had the ship customed-built by Meyer Werft in Germany, entered service two years ago on April 21st, 2018 and is sailing under the Bahamian flag. Norwegian Bliss has an overall length of 333.32 meters (1,094 feet), a molded beam of 48.1 meters (158 feet), and a maximum draft of 8.4 meters (28 feet). The ship has gross tonnage of 168,028 GRT and a deadweight of 11,700 DWT. Norwegian Bliss has 20 decks, 1,963 staterooms (i.e., mini-suites, balconies, ocean views, inside and studio), and 80 Haven suites, penthouses and villas, and can carry 4,004 guests (double occupancy) and 1,716 crew workers. Norwegian Bliss is usually homeported in New York City (NYC), New York. The hull art of the ship was designed by marine wildlife artist Robert Wyland. Mr. Wyland is best known for his "Whaling Wall" murals, in which he painted life-sized whales on 100 buildings all over the world. Our 2020 Cruise Itinerary In January my wife and I took the 14-Night Southern Caribbean From New York onboard Norwegian Bliss. The destination of this cruise including eight ports of call played a big role for our choice of cruise and for the overall Freestyle Experience. This cruise was a no-fly cruise vacation, and we were part of a group that drove on a luxury coach to Glenpointe, New Jersey. We had booked a balcony, so NCL made our reservations for a mid-deck balcony BA stateroom on deck 13. The Chief and Commander of the Bliss was Captain Robert Lundberg, while the Cruise Director was John J.L. Sanchez. Departure was on January 18th from NYC Manhattan Cruise Terminal and then we cruised to San Juan, Porto Rico; St Thomas, US Virgin Island; Tortola, British Virgin Island, Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Basseterre, St Kitts & Nevis; Castries, St. Lucia; Bridgetown, Barbados; and St. John’s, Antigua before returning to NYC Manhattan Cruise Terminal on February 2nd. In most ports of call, we enjoyed NCL Shore excursions, where these excursions had been pre-booked and purchased at premium price through “MY NCL” cruise application. Included in the cruise fee Included in our cruise fee were all the meals in the three main dining rooms, as well as at the local pub and the Garden Cafe buffet. Also, the Continental room served breakfast, the main theater entertainment, most daily activities, unless otherwise noted. Onboard fitness center (excluding most scheduled fitness classes), the use of water slides, the sports court and mini golf, the Splash Academy Kids programming, except for late-night and mealtime supervision. We also got the Prepaid Service Charges for the first and second guest for the daily gratuities; $15 per person, per day for anyone staying in a standard stateroom; $18 per person, per day for those staying in The Haven, or any suite or Concierge cabin. Also included was the Ultimate Beverage Package for alcoholic drinks and gratuity up to a maximum $15.00 per drink/per guest, this added to the regular beverages such as water, tea (including iced tea), coffee and select juices from the buffet. Not included in the cruise fee An auto-gratuity of 20 percent on spa and salon purchases, as well as all specialty dining reservations. The Spa and Salon treatments and services, and most fitness classes. Entry to the spa's thermal suite, the use of the ship's go-kart racetrack and laser tag arena. Activities including alcohol tastings, select arts and crafts classes, bingo and the Deal or No Deal gameshow. All Shore excursions, the late-night programming and mealtime supervision at the Splash Academy kids club. And finally, Wi-Fi access and packages, photos and artwork. We did get some accessibility to the ship’s Wi-Fi, but it was slow and not reliable. Rating given between 1 and 5 on various classes Ship Quality 4.6 There’s a lot about this newer Norwegian Bliss that’s unexpected. It feels like a big ship that’s taken on the trappings of one that’s smaller and more upscale. We loved the combination of upscale and mainstream as the Bliss is a beautiful ship with a refined feel you do not normally expect to find on such a megaship. It includes 20 bars, lounges and clubs which makes you feel welcomed; our preferred venue was the Sugarcane Mojito Bar with its waterfront seating. Innovation and modernism 4.3 The most striking feature is on Deck 15, the 20,000 square foot Observation Lounge, which dominates the entire forward section of the ship. Its purpose is to serve as a space for cruisers to soak in every stunning moment of a cruise, to read, to chat with friends and even fall asleep. It’s simply a refined indoor haven of calm, and we have never seen anything quite like it on a mainstream ship. Service and Staff 4.2 Warm hospitality and the staff did a very good job everywhere, they were gracious and competent. However, during the last 3 days of our cruise, ship management implemented irregular health & safety procedures (serving guests in all dining areas) due to the introduction of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19). Destinations and Excursions 4.4 This Caribbean itinerary was exactly what we were looking for. Last time we almost had a similar itinerary was in 2017 and tried to cruise the Caribbean, but Hurricane Irma had left a trail of destruction in many countries. NCL Shore Excursions are expensive but usually well chosen and organized. Cabin / Stateroom 4.3 Consider the refined choice of fabrics and color schemes in cabins and in public spaces. There are plenty of spots for quiet relaxation without having to go to an adults-only solarium, which we often find too hot or too stuffy. Nighttime Entertainment 3.5 Some enjoyable nighttime entertainment particularly the Beatles cover band in an always crowded Cavern Club, and the full-scale production show of the Broadway musical hit, the "Jersey Boys." Most nights, there was one family-friendly comedy show, a hypnotist displaying her talents once per cruise, and laser tag and go-karts that ran till late. There is not enough high energy entertainment to keep guests busy and always wanting more. Food and dining 3.6 With a robust selection of dining venues, there was excellent service and good food in the nine complimentary dining restaurants, such as the three main dining rooms, as well as at the Local pub and the Garden Café buffet. While we do wish there were a fewer extra charge, the sixteen specialty dining restaurants do require expensive reservations: our favorite one being the hibachi-style Japanese Teppanyaki. Many food items including white wines were missing by the last 5 days of this cruise. Onboard Activities 3.6 Go-karts and water slides are high energy “rides”; but both of those cost extra money, not necessarily surprising on a line that pioneered extra-fee specialty dining, so how many times are parents going to let their kids loose on the "rides"? The pool deck area was great! There was a range of educational activities during the day, such as language classes and guest lectures, where family friendly features seem less visible, the one exception being the kids splash zone on Deck 16. Children’s Programs 3.6 There is enough in the kids' clubs to keep them busy as the sun goes down, but less for families to do together, which maybe is just what parents want on their cruise vacation. We can't figure out what a family with small kids or teenagers would do in the evening. Embarkation and Disembarkation 3.9 On Jan 18, 2020 the boarding process started at 12:00 pm and was efficient and quick; but for the disembarkation process of Feb 2, 2020 (almost a nightmare), there were long line-ups starting inside the ship, were a bit disorganized and quite long. Our rating of the above ten classes 4.0 Overall, we enjoyed our Caribbean cruise on Norwegian Bliss and rated it 4.0 out of 5 for the 14-Night Southern Caribbean from New York. However, for the next few weeks/months of 2020, the ship will not be sailing due to the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
