My daughter and I have just returned from a 7 day Alaskan cruise. We have done this cruise on a Princess cruise 6 years ago and it was wonderful, we were in Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway for the entire day right in the town and had the most amazing experience at the Glacier National Park, only 150 metres from where the glacier went into the ocean, we were there for at least 4 hours watching the glacier and it actually calved while we were there. Unfortunately, Norwegian Bliss did none of those things and we flew half way around the world expecting to see what we saw before but no we DID NOT. Incredibly disappointed and so were many other people on our trip. Do not go with Norwegian to Alaska, a complete waste of time and money as it is not the trip they advertise.

Recommended by our travel agent. Price point was good. Wanted to go to Alaska. First the good: The ship itself was clean and the room with a balcony was comfortable for two people. Extra storage under the bed was very handy. Raymund was our steward and did a good job. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the room was. The restaurants Taste and Savor were fine. Pretty limited and repetitive menu throughout the week. Service was better at Taste. The shows SIX and Jersey Boys were really well done and highly enjoyable. We particularly appreciated the history of SIX on the screens before the show - made it much easier to follow. Really impressed with the energy and stamina of the performers. Fun costumes. Nice twist in the ending. Siglo [cover-band] had some amazing guitarists and we enjoyed their shows more than once on the trip. The stop at Sitka was nice - things to see and a town to explore. The Russian Orthodox Church was interesting. We enjoyed the salmon hatchery tour a lot more than we expected to due to the exuberance of our 20 something guide. The library on ship was a nice, tucked away little nook with games and I found a book I'd been wanting to read which was a treat. The specialty meals at the Cagney and the Teppanyaki Room were exceptional as was the service. Whale watching excursion in Juneau was fun and well done. Appreciated that the captain of the boat turned the boat frequently so that you could see whales from different sides of the ship. The bus driver was funny and informative. Local Bar and Grill on the ship had good breakfast, fresh and hot. Good service. Portion sizes at all of the restaurants were a nice, reasonable size which was refreshing. Departure from the ship was well organized, but very hard to hear announcements. Then the bad: Getting on the ship was SO disorganized. Communication, how lines were laid out etc. were not smooth at all. It would have been nice to have a lanyard for the key card. Had to make sure someone had pockets or a purse at all times. The instructions for carrying on your own alcohol [$ 15 cork fee per bottle] were very confusing. We were told we could carry it on, but in line, told no liquids. Got to check out and were waived through to another station. We watched the safety briefing online, but the meeting up in groups for safety briefings was a joke. We just milled around for a while and finally left. The comics were pathetic and truly awful. Jack Jr. was primarily the F-bomb - unneccessarily. Might have been a bit funnier without all that. The show in the auditorium was better. Larry...omg...so bad. Read from cue cards on the stool on the stage. It was cringeworthy. The workout facility was small. Ocean Blue specialty restaurant was so-so. My husband wanted the swordfish and they were out of it. I had the salmon and it was fishy. Los Lobos Restaurant - service wasn't good. Food was ok. Margarita was good. Guacamole needed more seasonings/lime etc. Icy Strait Point was basically a wide place in the road. Our excursion was cancelled, reopened [we rebooked] and then re-cancelled. Norwegian said that since we were one of the last to reserve, we lost our reservation. The did not account for the fact that we had booked much earlier. Did enjoy walking through the woods at Icy Strait Point. Really disappointed as this was the excursion we were looking forward to the most. Old rundown ropes course needs to be dismantled or fixed/monitored. Rotted wood and ropes and small kids are a recipe for disaster. We saw one tiny warning sign. The walk to the other dock was 1 mile. No locally made souvenirs. Gondola/tram to the other dock is free. The one to the top of the hill is $ 50. Signage was not very clear. Our friends' excursion was cut short. There was no signage for other excursions. People got left behind. Food at the Garden Cafe was ok. Good selection but a lot of it appeared to be pre-prepared or frozen. Not as fresh as I expected. Paid Wi-Fi was a joke. We are tech savvy folks. The logging on and logging off process required going through different screens and if you don't make triple sure you are logged off, you burn through your minutes immediately. Getting anything to load took forever. IT assistance was very limited and even during 'hours' there wasn't always someone there to help. Iced tea through the course of the trip was really hit or miss - either terribly watered down or clearly made in equipment that had also brewed coffee. Yuck. Announcements for the Victoria stop could not be understood no matter where you stood in the ship. Everyone was crammed into a stairwell for 45 minutes - great COVID breeding ground. Staff were not managing crowd control and some people got pretty nasty - either cutting in line or getting angry when people cut in line. Why not have people congregate in the auditorium/theater and release in groups? The trip to Bushart Gardens. Who schedules a visit to gardens at night and when a concert is going on??? The poor bus driver really tried. "Here on the left you could see _____ if it were daylight." Then our trip was cut short. The bus ride is 45 minutes each way. We had maybe 45 minutes at the Gardens. Hard to see 55 acres of gardens. At night. Yes, it was pretty where it was lit up, but still a pretty big waste of time. Overall: The scenery was lovely. The ship was lovely. The rest was hit and miss. We'd heard good things about this cruise on this cruise line and were disappointed.

We had a spa balcony cabin on the Bliss very nice cabin and use of the thermal sweets at the Alaska cruises is a little cool to use the outside pool and we we knew that the Bliss is very fine ship the only trouble is that they cut the day short when you go on your excursion it's time to get back on the ship because they're ready to go there's no time for walking around in town no time for shopping and they rush you back on the ship so they can get another ship in to the same dock for the same day so they're doubling up their ships in the same port other than that it was a great Cruise and we enjoyed ourselves I wouldn't recommend taking the pay for one get one free airfares because they do not book you great flights we spent 13 hours in the airport waiting to come home and the Seattle airport won't take your luggage until 4 hours before a flight so we had to find a place to there was a storage place down in luggage claim we had to pay $43 to store two suitcases we could take our carry-on through security so we can go get something to eat and we sat around and did nothing for 13 hours

This was my first time sailing with NCL and my last. They nickel and dime you to death! I prepaid everything, I mean everything. Yet they found reasons to charge me extra for my drinks (I bought the premium drink pkg), claimed it was taxes for being in these waters and that waters. Seriously?! They canceled the one excursion I really wanted claiming “logistics”. What?! Then they shortened our time in other ports. The worse was Victoria. We were pushed back an hour getting there, then delayed getting off the ship. We had less than 2 hours there so it was 9pm when we got into town and everything was closed. Wasted stop. Don’t waste your money on the Communication Pack ($10). It hardly worked even after going to the Internet cafe for help. Same with the Wi-Fi pkg. The only thing and I mean only thing that was great was the staff. If not for them, I might’ve “jumped ship”! I’ll stick to the other cruise lines, ie Princess, Royal Caribbean and Holland America!

My adult daughter and I stayed in a mini suite with extended balcony on 8th floor...which was nice, spacious and very quiet compared to other cruise lines. We enjoyed most of the specialty (pay additional for) restaurants and variety of types of food in the buffet. However there is not an 24 hour food option. We were on east coast time and ready for breakfast at 5am but nothing was open yet, can't imagine how difficult it would have been if we had come from Europe. 2 staff really stood out with exceptional service ; tutu (our room steward )and Evangeline ( taste and le bistro maitre d ) all staff was friendly and helpful but those two made us feel special. As for the activities on board they were lacking. The atrium is too small for all the trivia games and the questions get repeated often. The theater should be utilized for showing movies not the small atrium ( especially on at sea days) when there is so many people looking for an activity to do.I was bored. I do recommend the thermal spa. It is a great way to warm up after the Alaskan cold weather gets to you. They could turn up the hot tubs a few degrees ( inside and out). We had purchased both the thermal spa and vipe package...we never used the vibe ( a secluded outdoor adults only area with 2 hot tubs.) If we had a nice enough day to go outside we could have used the free adults only area called spice H2O. Overall I think I will look for a cruise line that caters to a younger crowd, not a party crowd but certainly not ncl.
