How did you guys get out of that place? Did tuk tuks ply the road outside frequently when u guys were there?
Yes, I took a tuk tuk. It was one that's near the main beachfront stretch of road. I think they even advertised on the sign "Catfish Farm". It was for round-trip. The driver waited while we walked around. It took about 30 minutes to get there. I figured he knew better how to get there, and I'd probably get lost or waste a lot of time trying to find it. I believe I paid 800 baht for it all.
I came by motorbike and have not seen many tuk tuks on this road, its not a main road and not near lot of touristy things, I can imagine getting one just standing on the road side might be quite a challenge.
When u book a tuk tuk or a car, their offer price will be for return trip.
Hope this is not too late for you. We actually always hire a moped for time in Ao nang. However the Tuk Tuks are very good. If you ask them where you want to go and say you want them to wait they will. We have done this many times to various places when we don't want to take the moped. We use the tuk tuks in the evening so we can have a drink. Have a fabulous trip.
