Hi I have planned my trip to Tromso on 3-4 October, is there anyway that I could eye the northern light? Where can I book the tour?
Chasing lights will help you for sure. The tour is done in small groups and they are great.
Oct is the first month recommended for the northern lights. In order to see the northern lights you need good weather and darkness. If you are in Tromso, the sun activity will not have much influence on the quality of the northern lights you'll see. If the sun is very active with strong winds, than you would be able to see the lights from lower latitudes too. No one can guarantee you the good weather, but Chasing Lights tours drove us deep into Finland to find a clear sky. They really do their best and mostly succeed. On Oct 3 the sun will set at 6pm, but you'll have twilight until 9pm. On Oct 2nd you'll have a full moon, so when the moon will rise at 11.30pm the sky wown't be so dark anymore. You still have a window from 9 to 11.30 of good darkness and I have also seen wonderful photos of northern lights with the moon on the sky. Have a great trip!
