Hi there, are there any local dog friendly pubs nearby. My husband and I love walking and were hoping there were some nice walks from the campsite?
There are certainly some amazing walks from the campsite, depending on how far you want to go. There are several circular walks that will take in local scenery, including the shore of the Fleet Lagoon, from 45 minutes to several hours, depending on the route you choose. Paths from the camping park join up with the South West Coast Path which opens great possibilities for longer routes too. If walking is your thing, then I would really recommend buying an Ordnance Survey map of the area (e.g. OS Map OL15 in the Explorer Series, which covers Purbeck and South Dorset). Dogs are best kept on leads to ensure the safety of wildlife, horses and their riders and farm animals (the Fleet Lagoon is a wildfowl reserve).
As for pubs, during the main season (not sure when you are visiting) there is an onsite bar and eatery at West Fleet and another at nearby Bagwell. There are also pubs in walking distance in Chickerell, Knights in the Bottom and Langton Herring. Farther afield, via the SW Coast Path, there are pubs in picturesque Abbotsbury.
