Why don't you employ more local indigenous people? Please don't tell me its too hard. Your organisation needs to take more responsibility to employ many more local Aboriginal people, not backpackers. And also after you have trained them you need to keep them on in gainful employment. Staying here now and have really enjoyed the Aboriginal staff, but you need to support the local people more as far as I'm concerned.
Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in our Indigenous Employment programs.
Ayers Rock Resort is owned by the Indigenous Land Council and it may be of interest to know that in 2011 the National Indigenous Training Academy was established at Ayers Rock Resort in order to build and sustain an Indigenous workforce through training and employment. Graduates of the program are guaranteed a job here at the resort or should they wish to move closer to home they are able to secure positions with our Indigenous employment partners around Australia. This program is in addition to our direct employment opportunities.
As a result of these initiatives well over one third of the Ayers Rock Resort workforce across all areas of the business are Indigenous and we have a target to reach 50% in the near future. Furthermore we have introduced a step up program with a focus on growing Indigenous leaders within our business.
I hope that this has provided you with a further understanding of our business and our commitment to Indigenous Training & Employment.
