Hi Tham J,

There are 4 free CAT bus routes within the Perth City boundaries: Blue, Yellow, Green and Red. You can view a map and timetable from the Transperth website. The Red CAT bus stop located on Hay St is the closest one to the Goodearth Hotel. In addition, the hotel is located in the Free Transit Zone so you can catch any bus along Adelaide Tce & St Georges Tce for free as a hop on/hop off service. This makes it really easy to get around the city.

There are 2 ways to travel to Fremantle, you can take the train (Fremantle line) which will get you there in about 30 minutes, or you can book one of the ferries departing from Barrack St Jetty, which will take about 1 hour down the Swan River.

Recommended areas near the city are Northbridge (has a vibrant restaurant and bar scene with a Chinatown area), Kings Park & Botanic Garden (400 hectares of native trees, plants and wildflowers overlooking the Swan River and Perth City) and Harbour Town in West Perth (brand direct outlet discount shopping). Other popular places to visit are Rottnest Island, Swan Valley and any of the stunning beaches along the coast. For a day trip, you can book a tour further afield to the Pinnacles Desert - 3 hour's drive north of Perth, or Margaret River - 3 hour's drive south of Perth.

I hope this helps!

Once again thanks for the info in regards to the hotel and I will have to look out for those small cafe.

If you're tired of being overcharged for hotel breakfasts, then this is actually a good place to stay. I had one of the 'sutdio appartment' rooms which comes with a full kitchen (stove, fridge etc.) so you can just prepare something yourself.

Is okay for a short stay nice and handy, we felt is was a bit overpriced in the rooms and the breakfast.

having said that I think Perth is quite expensive anyway.

The staff are really nice and you do have free parking which can be quite expensive at other places.... swings and roundabouts really....... would stay again.

We visit Singapore very regularly and the standard of this Perth hotel doesn't compare to what you will be expecting, coming from Singapore market. I would suggest that you upgrade your choice of hotel to at least a 4 star property if you can afford it, so that you are not disappointed. Perth is a very expensive city for hotels due to a limited supply and as regular travelers in Asia, where you get such good value, we are always dismayed by the lack of value for money and poor standards when we have to stay locally. This property is old and the bathrooms are very small and poorly equipped. If you need a comparison in Singapore , YWCA Fort Canning would probably be better than this property, so if you wouldn't stay there, don't stay here.

This is a good 3 star hotel with free parking. We had a superior twin studio which had a small kitchenette including a hob, microwave & fridge. A small table & chairs. There is a Coles supermarket within easy walking distance so we shopped there and had breakfast in our room. The room was clean, the single beds comfortable (although we do prefer 2 doubles) We asked for a quiet room and got one with a sliding door leading on to a small balcony - which had windows that opened. It overlooked a side street. We extended our stay there. We booked through one of the on line agencies at a terrific price & the hotel extended our stay at the same rate. The staff were helpful & friendly. We have stayed in everything from 5 star hotels to backpackers, private cottages etc. We walked everywhere - to restaurants, the waterfront, shopping - and there is a bus stop close by. We felt perfectly safe at all times & wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I think it is fine, unless you have really high expectations. In saying that, there was nothing wrong with the place, it isn't 5* though. We only stayed 1night though and didn't have breakfast. I have had other friends stay there and they had no complaints.

If you are only staying for a few nights it should be okay - it is not a terrible hotel. It is just quite expensive for what you get. Our room was quite outdated and so was the bathroom - but everything worked. There were some dodgy people hanging out in the reception (drunks) and they seemed to be staying there long term but they did not bother us. Forget the breakfast unless you plan to get there right when they open the buffet. It was mediocre at best and any little cafe in the area would have been cheaper and better. You can hope they improved since I was there in May 2014 - enjoy Perth - it is a lovely city!!
