Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo Questions & Answers

Toronto, Canada

Hi guys,

We are planing to go to the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo.

We love the snorkeling, and we'd like to know about it in EL Portilo resort.

Did you see the alive corrals not too far from the beach, that i can reach by myself? What the other option about the snorkeling in this area/resort?

Thank you very much in advance.

Natalia

Hello! We did not venture outside the resort beach area where most coral is old, but we did see many smaller colourful fish, sea urchins and an eel all in waist deep water. I believe there are excursions you can book off the resort if you want more adventure. Enjoy!

Closer to the beach is mainly old coral, but I still got pictures of an eel, puffer fish and colourful small to mid-size fish. There were a few people who ventured further out to newer coral and the water didn't seem to be too deep as they were standing at about armpit level at low tide.

Sorry but there is no alive coral there. My husband is a diver and I guarantee that everything is dead there. SORRY.
