I am traveling in February 2018 with a 6 and 2 year old. Is the ocean calm in this area? Can the children play in the water safely or is the tide rough?
Late evening is great & early morning, mid day could be rough anywhere.
Yes, the water at the beaches in Isla Verde in front of the resorts, Marriott Courtyard, Ritz, El San Juan, and the Intercontinental, is always beautiful with slightly rolling mini waves or totally calm; it's wonderful for children and adults alike. You will LOVE this whole area! If you don't have a car, do take the local bus that runs right in front of the Intercontinental to Old San Juan....maybe a little too much walking once you get there for little children, but it's convenient and very inexpensive! Have a great time!!
The water was very calm in May. Our 3, 6, & 8 year olds enjoyed playing on the beach in the day & swimming in the pool at night. No slides, but there is a small kids playground.
Yes it was calm during my stay but you should still stay near the kids.
You can go confidently. No issues. I was born and raised by this beach in a condominium not even 34 blocks. The beach is always peaceful.
The ocean was beautiful and calm when I was there in May. I would suggest another hotel though. We had a terrible experience at this hotel.
The surf was calm when we visited and we were told this was typical.
I would always be concerned, however with young children, especially a 2 year old. I'm from NJ and have experienced rough surf so in comparison, I found this extremely mild.
I went in July the water was Definitely calm and very clean and safe. When you go to the beach you can take your pool towel from the hotel and rent a umbrella on the beach.
The water is calmer than the Condado area but it is not calm there are some decent sized waves, my husband and nine year old got knocked down a few times
Definetly. When I was there, slot of families had smaller children with them, and they had a blast, plus they also have a pool with slides and hot tub as well
