would you be needing my passport for checking in?. or just a physical verification of any ID suffice?
Thank you for your question and thank you for selecting Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC as your host.
To ensure the privacy and safety of our guests, we require a valid government issued ID to be presented at check-in. This ID may be a passport, drivers license, military ID, or other similar document. We do need to have the original document and not a facsimile.
If you have any additional questions, please call the hotel's Front Desk and we will be happy to help.

A driver's license is sufficient; absent that, probably a passport would be required.
I provided my drivers license and a major credit card
I am not familiar with the hotels policy, but usually when you present your credit card at check in, you also show ID. If you are not a US citizen, my guess is you're passport is the next form of ID required.
