The Metro is close and once you get to Union Station there is a bus that just travels the monument sites. It also goes by all the Smithsonian museums if you want to get off visit and pick up the bus at that stop to continue to the next museum and/or monument. The best thing is to purchase a day pass on the Metro for each passenger. So the earlier you get started the more places, bus rides and Metro you get to use. Different prices on the day pass for adults seniors children etc. We found the Metro was very nice. The monument bus route was perfect for traveling between the sites.

We never took Metro or cabs to visit the sights and found the hotel to be a great center point to any of the locations we wanted to visit. Each place was between 20 - 30 minutes walk and I was advise planning what you want to see to minimise the time you spend getting there if walking.

The Dupont Circle Metro Station on the "red line" of the metro system is just yards away from the hotel.

We did not take the metro, but by Huber it's about 10 to 15 minutes, assuming moderate traffic

The price is a dollar for the card and then you put the amount you need on the card. Each person with their own card. The price varies with the stop you get off. Not much really, like 2.50 to Union Station from DuPont Circle. The Metro is very clean and dependable.
