Can anyone tell me where, in Chinatown, I can find a shop which sells Chinese paper funerary offerings (for burning on grave sites)? I'm hoping to find a shop which sells paper houses, household appliances, cars, clothes, all the things deceased relatives will need for a comfortable after-life!
oops ... sorry for late rely....im travelling ;-) Once your nose takes you to the laneway with ALL the FOOD sellers......there is a terrific shop flanking the food stalls that sell EVERYTHING your asking for. (if your walking from the centre of Chinatown into the food lane, the shop is halfway down on the left hand side...opposite a tasty chickenwing stall). Have fun in Chinatown.
Hi, Chinatown is not really a place you can find these stuffs because it's a tourist spot and tourists rarely bought offerings back to their country. But I can recommend you to try Bugis. Take mrt to Bugis station, exit Bugis Junction and towards Bugis village which is an outdoor shopping bazaar. Continue walking straight towards this place where Kwan yin temple is and you can ask around about it because it is very famous and everyone local knows where is it. There's small homeowner shops all around the temple selling offerings and joss sticks and a Rochor center nearby also sell decorations and life after death offerings.
Thian Hock Keng Temple is 2 blocks away in Telok Ayer Street Chinatown as well as Siang Cho Keong Temple in Amoy Street Chinatown. There is so much to see in Chinatown we only had a couple of days the last time & sadly missed too many things
I think there are 3 temples in South Bridge Road at the end of Chinatown markets.Buddha Temple, St Mariamman Temple & another one, they will help you with your requirements when there. The Chinatown Visitors Centre in in the lane at the end of Banda Street Chinatown, with very helpful staff. There are hundreds of stalls & we did see some offerings sorry but I cannot remember the exact stall. Hope this can help a little.

Hi there!! Actually u dun need to go to obscure places. U can find chinese funeral rites items at major supermarkets in Singapore - they have a section for it. I've seen them sold in NTUC Fairprice @#B1 Chinatown point and Giant Supermarket #B1 Suntec. Also, sundries shops in all HDB town centres usually carry such items. Ask the shop assistant if u have difficulty locating what u want - cheers^^
Thanks very much Terry. I should be able to locate such a shop/stall from this advice. Your help is appreciated, Laurel
