Singapore River Cruise Questions & Answers

Thatcham, United Kingdom

Hi

I'm looking for a quick way to get from marina bay to clarke quay. Is it possible to get a water taxi rather than a "cruise"? Do these operate on Saturdays? How much do they cost?

Thanks very much :)

ps When I say water taxi I am talking about the river cruise that you can board at Marina Bay and then be dropped off at Marina Bay but for an expensive price :)

The water taxi is quite expensive to go from Marina Bay to Clarke Quay as we enquired about the price while we there in July. We wanted to do the same thing but it was going to cost us $18 Singapore each so we opted for the train instead...a much cheaper option!

Hi Claire,

It is possible to take the river taxi from Marina Bay to Clark Quay.

-- Price --

We have brought friends visiting Singapore on the river taxi from Robertson Quay to Collyer Quay on 3 separate occasions, December 2015 being the latest.

It was S$4 per person per way (from Robertson Quay to Collyer Quay).

The fare is based on the number of stops, quite similar to bus fare. There used to be an image file on their website that shows the fare and the timetable. Nevertheless, I will look in my archive and share when I have it.

-- EZ Link Card --

Do note that they do not accept cash nor credit card payment. The fare is to be paid using EZ-Link card (similar to London's Oyster card).

You can pick up an EZ link card from the MRT stations or 7-11 convenient stores.

There is a station at the Changi Airport and if you are there during the working hours of the station, that might be the best place to pick up the EZ Link card. That is also the best place to check on refund procedures of the stored value in your EZ Link card.

-- MRT ---

Are you familiar with the London underground? You would need a bit of local geography to navigate and to know which platform to go to.

A few have suggested to travel by MRT (tube/metro) from Marina Bay to Clark Quay. I am assuming that you meant Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Bayfront MRT station (DT16/CE1)

--> Downtown Line (Blue)

--> to Chinatown MRT Station (DT19/NE4)

--> change to Northeast Line (Purple)

--> to Clarke Quay (NE5)

Do note that there is another station nearby - Marina Bay MRT Station (NS27/CE2/TE20) - you would not want to be confused and end up at the wrong station.

-- Taxi --

Even for locals, we would avoid driving around Marina Bay Sands area unless we REALLY have to. Traffic is bad there, and depending on the time of the day, the taxi queue is long. Also, from Marina Bay Sands to Clark Quay, the taxi driver would take you along Telok Ayer Street and the traffic there is busy on all days. It would not save you much time.

Thus, I would highly recommend you to take the river taxi ride if you are not confident to navigate the underground (MRT system).

Hope that helps.

The cruise boat can be used as a water taxi you just do a single trip. Think it costs s$18. If you need to get from marina sands to Clarke quay in a hurry use a cab as think the boat took about half hour one way. Hope this helps.

You can take metro its very cheap and you can go anywhere in Singapore. And you can reuse your metro ticket. Every Time when you reuse your ticket they will awarded you by lowering the metro rates.

There are no water taxis. And I think the river cruise is overpriced. I would suggest a taxi.

Didn't try a water taxi and don't recall seeing any but wasn't actually looking. Metro is really easy and really cheap and really quick but if time really is crucial take a taxi as suggested above.
