Hi there, I would like to know what is the best (not the most expensive) way to get to the hotel from Phuket airport. Thanks Michaela
The best way is to get out of the airport and take a metered taxi from a kiosk outside. They charge a 100 baht for getting you the taxi but is still cheaper than other transport companies who charge through the roof for hotel transfers.
We found the best, was to take the minibus which you MUST PRE-BOOK at one of the Travel Agents on the road side. It costs 180 TB pp - they collect about 8 to 10 people for the trip from different hotels, so just plan your timing. They don't advertise this option anywhere because I think they want people to choose the taxi option at 800 TB, so you MUST ask for this option. It was reliable and we got there in good time. We considered taking the free blue bus to Phuket town, then taking the cheap main bus to airport, but didn't feel like shlepping our luggage around in the heat!
There are many modes of transport to the hotel. Depenmding on the time and effort you desire to put into it to save some baht.
You are 45 km to the hotel so taxi like grab taxi is reliable and cheaper (near 300 baht) than a prior booked taxi (850 baht). There are also public transport options to phuket and song tauew to get to the hotel, again even cheaper tha grab taxi.
We went with the private pre arranged ride (offered by our hotel upon reservation)simply for the convenience.
I always use Mr Chai as my transport. You can book him from here before you leave Australia and arrange pickup to go back to the airport while there. He is very reliable & has about 7 drivers that work for him. We have never actually met Mr Chai but each driver speaks English, are happy people and drive late model cars.. The trip takes around 1 hour & the price is around $20AUD which you will need to have (in Thai Baht) cash to pay the driver on arrival. I can't add weblink here but if you search for him on Trip advisor or Google you can read other reviews.
