Abaca Boutique Resort Questions & Answers

Tokyo, Japan

I and my fiancé are planning to visit Cebu for my birthday. I wonder if we can enjoy snorkeling at the beach of the hotel. Are there many beautiful fish? is the ocean clean and clear for snorkeling?

Abaca private beach is only good for short cayac, you cannot snorkel. As other reviewer says, I recommend to ask the hotel to reserve a boat or you can reserve island hopping day tour by yourself, there are few you can reserve online.

I went three island hopping with BBQ tour, reserved via online. Ocean was deep blue and as for fish, I saw many but I did not see much of colorful...blue, yellow, or reddish fishes out there. Some tour has a wild "whale shark" watching snorkel tour. You may want to check that out too.

One other thing. You may be alright but ocean I went for snorkel had many floating leaf which left little scars and itchiness for a week. My friend also had it.

Snorkel tour starts from early morning. If you cannot eat breakfast @ hotel, ask batler. They will make you sandwich in a to go box instead. Enjoy!

There is no beach at Abaca, however, the hotel will arrange a private boat to nearby coral reefs and sand bars. Drinks, BBQ, and all equipment are included. Fantastic hotel for 3-4 days, the boat trips are well worth it.

I rented a boat that took us to a marine reserve. The hotel coordinated it. The beach at abaca is not great but the pool is perfect. The boat included the snorkel gear and a BBQ lunch. Very cool.

The beach near the hotel can be quite shallow & the visibility closer to the shore is not very clear.

My advice is to book a day trip (tour) and they can take you out to the nicer and more quiet islands. The water there are crystal blue!! I booked a tour with Ocean Dreamers (good price and service) when I went to Cebu. They take you to 3 islands with snorkel and lunch provided. Good luck !
