The Lodge and Club at Ponte Vedra Beach Questions & Answers

Brooklyn, New York

Hello there!

A few questions:

How much is the cab from the JAX airport to the resort (2 people)? Any specific cab company that you would recommend?

What is the fee for renting a beach umbrella? Are reservations needed ahead of time?

Is the beach private or public?

What time is breakfast served? Is is buffet style? How much does it cost per adult?

Are there any restaurants/shops within walking distance?

Any construction planned this year? Any issues with noise in general (ex. thin walls, etc.)?

Any trips available in the area? (like dolphin cruises, etc.)

And finally, because I am not familiar with this part of Florida, please tell me, honestly, if Jacksonville is... how can I phrase this..."open" to all races.

Thank you for your feedback!!

Cab fare can vary based on traffic, but the Lodge & Club is approximately 30 miles from the Jacksonville Airport. We work closely with a car service that we can set up for you ahead of time. For 2 adults, it is $93.

Beach chairs and umbrellas can not be reserved ahead of time. Chairs are $15 per day and umbrellas are $15.

The beach is public, but there is no public parking to access it so you will mainly find guests and club members on the beach at the Lodge & Club.

Breakfast is served from 7-10:30 and it is an ala carte menu.

The Lodge & Club is set in a residential area. The closest restaurant off property is a approximately 3 miles away. There are several options available on property as well as our other resort, the Inn & Club.

At this time, we do not officially have a time frame for any construction.

Being that we are set in a residential area, noise is generally kept to a minimum. If you are looking for the quietest locations, our reservationists would be happy to make your accommodations away from the pool.

We are about 30 minutes north of St. Augustine, which is a great day trip. There are several options available for dolphin and sunset cruises, carriage rides, deep sea fishing, etc.

Jacksonville and its surrounding areas is welcoming to all.

Dear Raspberry Apple,

I can answer at least a few of your questions. The cab ride from The airport to the hotel is a long one and could cost $60 or more. I believe the hotel can arrange transportation for you, but that will cost about the same. We do not have a favorite--or unfavorite – cab company. Because the hotel is pretty far from the airport, it may make sense to rent a car. I don't know about beach umbrellas . All beaches in Florida are, in effect, public under Florida law, as people are permitted to walk across them at least (I think) up to the high water line . The hotel can advise you about breakfast times. I believe they stop serving breakfast at 10 AM most mornings. When we were there in February, construction was going on at the rear of the hotel. They can tell you whether it has been completed. We have never had noise issues. I don't know about trips – never taken one there – but I expect some are available. There is not much in the way of dining or shopping within walking distance of the Lodge and Club, although a sister hotel, the Inn and Club, is about a mile to the north and is well worth a visit. Your last question is an interesting one, and, being Caucasian, I answer it based on observation, more than experience, but I would say, yes, Jacksonville is "open" to all races. There is a large Naval installation there, and I think that may help.

Have a great trip
