Rancho San Rafael Regional Park Questions & Answers

Muscle Shoals, Alabama

I am a judge from Alabama and will be at the National Judicial College near you in October. My wife and I have a travel trailer and will be there for about 10 days. Is there a place to camp near the college? Thanks, Pride Tompkins

The CLOSEST to the University in the Reno RV PARK! Not the KOA!!!

RENO RV PARK is at 735 Mill St, Reno, NV 89502Cross Streets: Between Locust St and S Wells Ave

(775) 323-3381

The Reno RV Park is near the river, is clean, beautiful, small and the best around! Highly recommended.

The other two, about a fifteen minute drive on the Freeway are the KOA by Verdi Boomtown Exit and the campground in back of Gold Ranch are the two best. The Grand Sierra Resort still does offer RV parking, but no amenities.

I prefer the Gold Ranch RV. It has trees and is very quiet and pleasant, and the restaurant inside the Gold Ranch is OK for nice down home comfort food.

Both campgrounds are west of Reno of of Freeway #80. For Gold Ranch take Exit #2. Gold Ranch charges all inclusive $35 plus change per night pull through, about $32 for back in. Here are the amenities: 105 fully paved sites, including 68 wide pull-throughs. The amenities at Gold Ranch:

        Comfortably spaced lush green sites

        Full hook-ups - 20/30/50 amps

FREE Wireless Internet at every site

        Clean showers and laundry facilities

Clubhouse with fireplace, television, and free Wi-Fi

        Heated pool and Jacuzzi

Two restaurants to choose from: the Sierra Café and Jack-In-The-Box

        Pets welcome

        Mail/Fax service available

24-hour convenience store and Sinclair gas station

There is no camping near by, the KOA in Verdi is the quietest and prettiest of camp grounds looking over the truckee river. It is about 10 minutes drive from the college.

There is nothing right in that area but Bordertown (about 5-10 min drive) has a campground with hookups. You can check with several of the casinos to see if you can park in their lots. I know Grand Sierra used to let campers park in their lot.

Unfortunately, I think the answer is no on camping. The park is just north of downtown and surrounded by homes and the University of Nevada. Enjoy your stay!
