How easy could an 80 year old man go down into the george. And, do I need tickets to go down into the george
I would suggest driving to the John Dunn bridge which is a few miles upstream and allows you to actually put your feet in the water without climbing down a trail. The drive is very bumpy, mostly gravel, but very beautiful.
There is no easy access by foot into the gorge. Ditto the recommendation to drive about 6 miles north of Taos to the John Dunn Bridge (County Road 007) or take a balloon ride. They take you right down into the gorge. I watch them make the trip almost daily.
