John, you will be in the terminal within 5 minutes really. You take a in the sofitel hotel lift to the floor to the terminal walkway entrance you walk through get a lift at the end up to departure (down for arrivals) and it opens up in terminal. There is a video on you tube of the terminal, where the man comes from the left, right at the start of the film is where you will enter. I hope this helps you.

I think it is about 400 metres from your room. You proceed from the hotel along an indoor corridor. You take the lift up one floor ( I'm not sure) you step out of the lift to the road that delivers people to departures, turn hard left and left again and you are a few steps away from the entrance of terminal 5. That walk is all under cover. I was travelling with my 82 year old mum, so it took us 10 minutes to complete the journey. We visited terminal 5 twice on the day we arrived at the hotel so it was not too arduous. Thesurfaces are even and there are no stairs. It made wheeling cases easier.
