Really worried. Would love to do this tour but the Seattle Times have reported the Duck Tours vehicles banned in some areas because they are so unsafe AND there was a major accident in Seattle where the safety of the vehicle caused deaths. Have there been serious safety improvements? The company need not reply but if there is anyone in the know on an official (unbiased) capacity with regards to improved safety....I'm all ears!

A must do tour
I went on their tour in February. They had a light come on the dash so they got another to take its place . This was just precautionary.
Felt safe at all times.
If you are looking for an unbiased answer, perhaps you should try and contact the government body that inspects the Ducks? I was aware that there was a traffic accident that involved one before I went. We went out on a bit of a stormy day a few months ago and at no time did I feel unsafe. We had rules to follow when we were on the vehicle, driving down the street... arms in, no standing. The staff were more on the mature end (age wise), and seemed fully in control. I would go again, but if you have doubts I would pursue it with the people who do the inspections.
We went in May.........I didn't hear about the accident until after. I believe they have addressed the issues on the old Ducks.
I went with my daughter and I felt perfectly safe, and I would do it again and I recommend it to everyone I see.
Accidents can happen anywhere at any time. I think the Duck ride is safe, any risk is small, but, if you are person who worries excessively, it might not be for you - but you will be missing out on a having a lot of fun, and a great learning experience.
Approximately, 2 months ago I travelled to Seattle not aware of problems on the Duck tour. Two Duck boats went out, and I had the most enjoyable time. No mechanically issues, no fear in the water, and all passengers received lots of knowledge about this area. Everyone gave a tip once we completed the tour.
