ScherIrani's City Tips

  • Keep an umbrella handy, you can get caught in an unexpected shower.
  • Luxury goods are ample. Sephora has opened up at various locations as well for make up junkies like myself.(NARS is available at the ION Orchard branch of Sephora only).
  • Boat Quay is great for night life, lots of little places to eat and drink by the riverside. Personal Favourite- Prince of Wales (also has a hostel above).
  • Download the SINGAPORE MRT and STREET DIRECTORY maps as a handy guide for the busses and trains you can take to desired destinations. Street directory is a must-have app.
  • There is a great seafood restaurant at the Woodlands waterfront(MRTto Woodlands and a short taxi ride from there) which serves excellent chilli crab, very reasonable.
  • Visit Din Tai Fung and Paradise Dynasty for excellent Xiaolongbao (steamed pork dumplings) and La Mian.Paradise dynasty is located at ION Orchard.
  • Shopping for clothes at Bugis Junction is worthwile if you're on the slimmer side. For cheap shoes, slippers and souvenirs its great.Fun knick knacks are also available.
  • Don't just stick to the malls on Orchard Road- Explore the suburban malls like Tampines and Nex if you have the time. They may have better offers at times.
  • Toast Box cafes all over the city serve excellent local style coffee and Kaya butter toast which would make a great snack in under 3 Dollars.
  • Follow city rules-no littering, no jaywalking among many others. Respect the city and you are assured to have a great time.
  • Food courts are hygienic, reasonable and multi cuisine, do not hesitate to get a quick, cost efficient as well as tasty food there. Local fare available.
  • Use the MRT and busses to travel around the city - way more economical than a taxi and they're air conditioned. A prepaid EZLink card could come handy, you just tap in and out.
