Mika T's City Tips

  • The food can potentially be very spicy so make sure to let the waiters know if you don't like or are sensitive to spicy food.
  • Transportation via auto rickshaws is really great, but make sure the meter is on or you risk being ripped off.
  • The city does experience some rain, so be prepared when heading out for the day.
  • On weekdays (Sunday to Thursday,) restaurants, clubs, and bars close by 11pm; on weekends (Friday and Saturday,) they close at 1am.
  • Bangalore has a great metro system, perfect for avoiding rush hour traffic.

When its time for a local breakfast, I think of MTR! MTR (or Mavalli Tiffin Rooms) are a popular chain of very traditional restaurants that offer amazing Bangalorean and also Mangalorean delights; the best dosa, idlis (savory cakes,) chow chow baths (a sweet and sour dish) and uthapams (pancake-style dosas) I have had.

Built in the early 19th century and later expanded in the early 20th century, beautiful St. Mark's Cathedral is largely inspired by 17th-century St. Paul's Cathedral.
