- This part of Thailand is home to a big Muslim community, so the food scene here is ideal for halal travelers.
- No need to worry about tipping. It's not expected at local restaurants, and the bigger restaurants already include a service fee on the bill.
- If you're eating outside, bringing mosquito repellant is a must. The town is located next to a big river, so there's bound to be hundreds of them!

The Krabi Night Market, located in a big parking lot next to the river, is undoubtedly the best place in Krabi Town to get your foodie on. You'll find over a 100 different food options around here. I love sampling many different dishes and snacks while listening to the live bands playing each weekend.
Tips- Arrive early, as the place can get very crowded. My tactic: dinner first, shopping later.
- Sample the roti pancakes — they're exceptionally tasty in this part of the country!

Popular among locals and those who travel a bit off the beaten track, Nong Joke is, hands down, Krabi Town's hidden gem. Follow the river all the way down the road, and you'll be rewarded with some of the best Southern Thai food you've ever tasted!
Tips- The English menu isn't very detailed. Either be limited by this, or point to the dishes the diners around you are enjoying.
- You can't go wrong with any of the curries here, they're all simply incredible.

One of my favorite places in town to grab a good coffee and a tasty, filling breakfast for the day ahead. The place does some very good Western-style breakfasts, so it's likely to be filled with tourists in the morning.
Tips- Relax Coffee is closed on Mondays.
- The poached eggs is one of my favorite dishes here.

Tawan sees diners coming back again and again, and after your first time eating here you'll find out exactly why. This place serves up a wide array of dishes, but the Mexican ones especially are extremely tasty. A welcome change from the common Thai fare you find elsewhere. The prices are surprisingly low, too.
Tips- They do some very good breakfasts, kick-start your day here with a good coffee.
- The place is a bit out of town, so make sure you do some research on the exact location before heading here.

Outside Bangkok and Chiang Mai, hip coffee shops like these are a rare find. I stumbled upon May & Mark Restaurant en route to the river, and ended up spending a good few hours here. The menu is very extensive and affordable.
Tips- If it's not too hot, opt for a table on the outdoor terrace. A great spot for people watching!
- The restaurant isn't that big, so it gets crowded quickly. Arrive outside peak hours to avoid having to wait for a table.
- Do try the smoothies and shakes!

Run by an Italian husband and Thai wife team, Mr. Krab-i restaurant dishes up some of the best Italian food in town. The owner is extremely friendly and will make sure you leave the place with a full tummy and a smile on your face.
Tips- The drinks come with a bowl of free popcorn (with unlimited refills!).
- The good vibes here go very well with the cheap but tasty cocktails.
- I especially like the hamburgers here. Way better than the ones I have had elsewhere in Krabi.

Maharat Bakery is run by a friendly Dutch owner, so of course I have to check this place out whenever I'm in Krabi. The Dutch delicacies I miss from back home are a very welcome change from the standard Thai fare served at most eateries, and although a bit on the pricey side, it's always well worth the little splurge.
Tips- Unlike a lot of Thai bakeries, most of the bread is freshly made and doesn't come with loads of sugar.
- Buy some bread to take-away and enjoy it for lunch or the next day's breakfast.

Located right behind the Krabi Royal Hotel, Ruan Thip is a popular local no-nonsense restaurant specializing in Thai fare. The food is simple yet incredibly tasty. You won't find many tourists here, which is always a good sign for me.
Tips- Have the mango sticky rice for dessert, it's delicious!
- As this place is located in a seaside town, the seafood here is as fresh as it gets.

Baitoey Restaurant is in a great location along the river and brings you some of the best views in Krabi Town. Watch the boats pass by while enjoying some seriously tasty Thai seafood dishes. I prefer to go here for lunch to fully enjoy the view.
Tips- Avoid the spicy dishes if you can't handle the heat — "spicy' here means 'very, very spicy'.
- If you're an adventurous eater, try the fried frogs with curry.
