King George V landed here in 1911 and last British soldiers left from this Arch of Gateway of India after independence of India. Enjoy boating from here. War vessels are anchored about 5 to 8 Kms away from shore. Beautiful view of Boats, vessels and Search/ Light Tower ( little away from shore). Different vendors of spiced Peanuts, Idli, which every tourist may not like. Pride of Indian Hotels, Taj Palace is just opposite it. You can sip tea / coffee over there and if lucky you can have a view of Gateway of India and Boats from window.
Tickets and Boats for ferry to Caves are available at Gateway of India only. Delux class ferry return ticket per person is about Rs150/- for adults. Famous carving of Lord Shiva and Hindu Gods and Goddesses are here, at times Dance festivals are also organised in these caves. A walk down for about half a Km from Boat has to be made to reach Caves.Advisable to make trip in the morning around 9.30 AM, get back around One O'clock have lunch nearby.
Earlier it was known as Victoria Terminus (VT): Now it's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), crowds of passengers and Dabbawalas there may mesmerise. It has two parts: One for Local Trains and other for foreign / through Trains,
Crawford market is in between CST and Lohar Chawl (Electrical goods), opposite Police HQ.It is known as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai also. Market houses shops selling imported items like Cosmetics,Gift items. Fruit market a part of it has been shifted to Navi Mumbai ( APMC Vashi). This market is for Pet animals sale as well,
Recommended to visit in the early morning to avoid the crowd. Here is the God of Success ( Ganesha- Vinayak). Everyone comes here to seek blessings for success in respective field / Project / Life. Top Film stars / personalities of Bollywood are frequenters to this Temple. Disciples remain quiet and composed even if they are in long ques for Darshan. Good Management. Restaurants are there inside the premises to breakfast.
Many times, I have visited this place, earlier when Searock Hotel ( ITC Group) was existing ( now Annexe of Taj Lands End). Access to fort & Seashore was not that easy as is now. cleanliness is another which use to be missing earlier. One can view Bandra WorliSea Link, Arabian Sea. Closer to it is amphitheatre where I have seen many Live concerts: Jagjit Singh, Daler Mehndi, Kiron Kher, Sonu Nigam, Ila Arun .... A program organised by The Times of India: Lead India. But last visit was recently few days back. While going to Bandra Fort one can see Mannat, house of famous Shah Rukh Khan about 800 meters before.
Evening it's full of Newcomers / Tourists to Mumbai. Good Sunset view, Balloons, many Paani Puri wallahs, Coconut vendors, you can take long stroll for 2 to 3 Kms. Evenings it becomes the crowded place.
Have visited this temple decades back but this time in the month of November 15. Went there to see other attractions of temple premises i.e. Restaurant & Marriage Hall. Long ques was there for meals / lunch being Sunday. Cost Lunch was near Rs 400/- per Thali / person. All ingredients of Lunch fried in Pure / Shudh Ghee. One should taste the food here. Hall for marriage was also good but found its ceiling at the lower height, moreover was difficult to get the right person for query regarding booking of Hall etc. Temple is really beautiful. I went there from Vile Parle, Taxi Car had to be parked about one Km away viewing narrow road approach & traffic.
Queen's necklace is the correct name of Marine Drive. Enjoy Arabian sea with tall buildings like express towers. Very smooth road drive. Most of the residential properties have been converted to Guest House / Boarding facility. Enjoy sitting on the sea / road wall eating peanuts. Many old & new films of Bollywood have been shot here. Closer to Marine Drive Churchgate Railway Station.
Hanging Garden is at the top of Malabar Hill. Can view beautiful Sunset. The Park was laid in1881. The other name of the park is Pheorozeshah Mehta Garden. Elite class of Mumbai or India have residences here. Many edges are carved in the shape of animals.
Chowpatty Beach is also known as Girgaum Chowpatty. Enjoy the Arabian Sea, Corn, Paani Puri, Pav Bhaji, Ice golas / Candy in wooden stick vendors are abundant. But the cleaniless here is still a question mark. Place is Famous Ganpati Visarjan / Immersion ( annual).
This Park is in Borivli East ( Suburb of Mumbai on Western railways) about two Kms from the railway station. It's on Mumbai Ahmedabad Highway. Park is part of Forest spread from Borivli to Bhandup. The Forest has more than 1000 plant species, many of mammals, Birds, reptiles. A toy train is also there, one can have smaller view inside Park on this.
