1. Start Here

From paved Whitney Portal Road, turn right on Movie Road. You enter an area called Movie Flat. Lots of side roads to explore. Spectacular scenery famous for being used in old western movies including Gene Autry Rock and the Lone Ranger Ambush Site. 2. Early Exit Point

You can exit here to the right on Moffat Ranch Road to get back to Highway 395. Left takes you back to Whitney Portal Road.

3. Whitney Portal Road

You return to paved Whitney Portal Road. Left returns to start. We recommend you turn right and climb towards Mt. Whitney. There's a beautiful area with parking, restroom, and waterfall and the entrance to famous Mount Whitney hiking trail. This trail is so popular that a permit is required to hike on the trail.
