Points of Interest

1. Start of Trail

When you get off the I-70 at exit 228 and head east, look for Georgetown Visitor Center on the right. Start of trail is residential road for short distance before it turns sharply right and heads up the mountain. Watch for log cabins along the route. Boulders sometimes roll down onto road.

2. High Overlook of Switchbacks

Wide spot on left is great spot to pull over to view switchbacks.

3. Key Intersection

Continue straight uphill on 712.2C to reach top of Saxon Mountain. Left on 712.2 goes to Spring Creek Jeep Trail and Cascade Creek. Both of these routes are available as FunTreks eGuides on EveryTrail.

4. Top of Saxon Mountain

Small loop circles top of Saxon Mountain. You’ll find a few picnic tables and fire rings. Information boards identify mountains peaks in distance, including Mt. Evans to the south.
