Points of Interest

1. Start Here

Head west on Forest Road 517. Good camp spots along first part of road.

2. Driver's Choice

We went left on lesser road that followed valley floor. Right is upper route to same place.

3. Killpecker Road

Stay left where Killpecker Road 300 joins on right. Killpecker Road zigzags uphill and connects to Deadman Road. This is shortest way to town of Red Feather Lakes if you need gas.

4. Roaring Creek Road

Two roads very close together go left. Take the second left and turn on marked 517. Right is Roaring Creek Road 173 that climbs uphill to Deadman Road. (Both of these roads are available as eGuides from FunTreks on EveryTrail.) Signs for 173 are hidden in the trees.

5. Green Ridge Trail

At large open meadow, go straight to continue on Bald Mountain Road 517. This way passes through an area of mud bogs and connects to easy Forest Road 319. Right on 319 goes north to Deadman Road. Left at meadow is Green Ridge Trail 177. It's a long, rocky trip south to Highway 14. (Green Ridge Trail is available as eGuide from FunTreks on... More

6. End of Bald Mountain Road

Bald Mountain Road 517 ends at Forest Road 319. Right here goes to easy Deadman Road, then east to Red Feather Lakes. Left on 319 heads south to difficult Green Ridge Trail.
