When walking up to Cà d'Zan Mansion, it's hard to imagine this lavish Mediterranean Revival residence was simply a 'winter home' to someone, but when you learn that it was the was the home of circus owner John Ringling and his wife Mabel, then it makes a little more sense. This stately 66-acre estate on Sarasota Bay is simply meant to be explored hand-in-hand.
For a walk through one of the most beautiful places in all of Sarasota, the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a must. Wander among thousands of tropical plants, trees, and flowers, a stunning orchid collection, and the conservatory and garden museum; and don't forget to stop at the koi pond as well for a leisurely and relaxing day to reconnect with nature, and one another.
If you're looking for a spot for a romantic lunch or dinner — at somewhere that has been rated as one of the top 100 restaurants in all of Florida — Ophelia's on the Bay is your place! Grab a seat by the floor-to-ceiling windows or on the patio for a tranquil view of Little Sarasota Bay, and indulge in some of the best seafood the area has to offer.

Visit art galleries, browse boutiques, and grab a bite to eat at the Towles Court Artist Colony in an old Florida area. Shop for antiques and items from local artists in this quaint and laid-back environment.

If a romantic day for you is more along the lines of a hike through some amazing scenery, then you need to visit the Myakka Canopy Walkway. Located in Myakka River State Park in Sarasota, one of the largest state parks in southwestern Florida, the Canopy Runway was the first canopy walk in all of Florida, and provides simply amazing views from the 76-foot observation platform.
