Points of Interest

1. Start Here

Trail starts near house with high fence.

2. Side Trip to Burgess Mine

Left here is a short side trip to Burgess Mine. Main trail continues to right.

3. Salt Tramway Station

Massive historic structure on left. Much to see here.

4. Narrow Ledge Road

Narrow, rocky shelf road would be difficult driving in opposite direction. Taake your time through this section.

5. Cerro Gordo Mines and Ghost Town

Pass through Cerro Gordo Ghost Town. Guided tours are available for a small fee. For details, go to www.cerrogordo.us.

6. Keeler

Descend maintained Cerro Gordo Road from ghost town. Road ends just south of small town of Keeler on Highway 136. If you just want to visit the ghost town without the more difficult 4-wheeling, you can just start here and drive uphill. It's easy in the summer when all the snow has melted.
