PRO. Nice view over the farm and countryside and Mt Etna with nice terraces and patio that have tables and chairs. Good location that is close to village for supermarket and restaurants, to beach for more restaurants, and to Mt Etna (1 hour). Nice friendly staff. Quiet location. Nice-sized bathroom and main bedroom, hair dryer and plenty of towels. Kitchen with everything for cooking. Good price for a flat for three. Upstairs provides privacy.
CON. The interior paint colors are too strong and decor is odd. One flat is bright green, another is bright red. Earthy colours would be better and more appropriate for an agriturismo. The circular stairs to the loft are very small and tight (not suitable for an overweight person). The hot water in the shower took forever to arrive. Shower door needs repair. Only one role of toilet paper is provided. Patio needs to be cleaned and swept. Chairs could use cushions. Need soap in bathroom. TV only in Italian. Kitchen faucet drips.
TIPS. Bring extra toilet paper, bath soap, food. Best supermarket is Lidl. Best nearby cafe for breakfast is Cohiba Cafe (3 min on same street). Best restaurants are Mare Kambo, de Natale and Antica Hosteria Marinara Lido Monsone.
We stayed in a 5 bed apartment Nr. 4.
It was not clean, especially the kitchen and chairs. Kitchen was poor equipped, not enough cups and glasses, no sharp knife. The table was just for 4 persons. Kitchen with the table is very small. Stairs to the upper bedroom very small for an adult man.
Beds were not comfortable. No mosquito nets on the windows. The price included a final cleaning, but when you are there you are expected to clean the kitchen and carry out the trash from the property as there are no trash containers on the property. Outside equipment (tables, chairs...) not clean.
Nice location to visit Etna and Taormina. Quiet and peaceful.
The apartment was pretty big and had everything we needed. There was a water bottle and a small snack when we arrived which was nice since we arrived in the evening. The bed was big but the springs were quite harsh. You have to throw the toilet paper in a bin since the pipes are narrow, may not always be convinient... ;P
The place was a bit more anonymous than expected from reviews. We only met the owner's father (who was nice) once. Would have been nice to know more about the agriturismo and what they are growing etc. Maybe it felt anonymous because we stayed on the back of the house (red room), on the positive side it was very quiet. The front side had a nice lounge area where wifi was available.
One of the reasons we chose this place was because it was walking distance to the beach. However there is only one road there which is quite dangerous to walk since people are driving very fast and also there are parked cars which makes it even more narrow. For this reason we had to take the car there anyway. The pebble beach was nice and long with clear water and not at all as cold as expected...around 22 C.
It is a good place for exploring Taormina and other nearby sights and perhaps more suitable for families with children since it seems to be a safe and child friendly environment.
We spent 4 nights here in august and were underwhelmed by it. The room wasn't very clean (cobwebs behind the tv, musty-smelling kitchen cupboards and left over soap in the shower) and the play area for kids was also really dirty/dusty. The 'hot tubs' were cloudy and stunk of chlorine.
We were in a little room at the back of the oasi, and it was definitely the worst spot... If you go, request a room at the front. The men that were (sporadically) in the reception area spoke no English at all, so knowing some Italian is a must. Other problems we had whilst there was that there was no cot for the baby when we arrived (they'd 'assumed' we didn't need one), and the water completely cutting out for an entire morning.
That said, it was so cheap and there were beautiful views from the front of the building.
Fiumefreddo itself was a simple town, quite peaceful with a good park for children and a lovely gelateria on the main square. The beach is close, but the road to walk down is busy and lined with parked cars (no pavement) which makes it dangerous to walk down with a buggy. Parking near the beach is next to impossible because it's so busy.
Overall, the accommodation was pretty poor but we paid for what we got.
The place is very welcoming. The bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable with air conditioner facility. The place was impeccably clean. The environment was quiet and relaxing with Etna views and garden furniture available for each apartment. Parking absolutely not a problem but own transport required. Excellent value for money.
