2 adults (48 & 45) and teenage(13) daughter....
Wanted to get away for some sunshine and relaxing for my birthday. So we booked Pahnis Studios with Jet2. We had never been to Zante before and we were on a budget. Pahnis came up in our search and we looked at the reviews and it all looked what we were looking for. We were definitely not disappointed. This family run place is amazing and i'm in love with Zante! Our room was on the second floor, with a balcony looking out towards the beautiful mountains and the hotel pool. The room was spacious with a kettle, 2 ring hob and fridge. Air con was available at a small extra charge, which you will need on the summer months! The room wasn't cleaned due to covid, but clean sheets and towels were provided midway through our 7 days stay. There was cleaning equipment available on each floor and spare refuge bags etc. We opted for bed & breakfast and this was a very good choice (served between 9 & 11am). You order breakfast from a menu and it's prepared fresh on ordering. You can have a full English, a Greek style breakfast, omelets with a huge choice of fillings (you can have all the fillings if you wish!) Toast with cheese, beans etc.. The full English is huge.. 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 eggs (double yokers), fresh fried tomato, heinze beans & mushrooms, 2 slices of toast, coffee or tea and fresh fruit juice and it tastes amazing! They also serve other food during the day. The pizzas are also huge snd freshly made and so tasty. I didn't have any other of the other food, so I cannot comment.
Tasos is usually on the bar, he always greets you with a smile and he makes lovely cocktails, off a great cocktail menu. They are 5€ each, served with a sparkler too. Nothing is to much trouble at this hotel. All very friendly and lovely when their children are there helping too.
We never had to get up to put towels on sunbeds, always got 3 available any time of the day. Thr pool was lovely & clean and not massive but big enough for a decent swim.
The location of Pahnis studios is perfect, if you like to be out of the way and enjoy an amazing view but still have bars, restaurants and the beach in walking distance (around 15 mins to the beach, bars/restaurants closer). You can catch a ride back on a horse & carriage in the evening, you pay around 10€ for this. The beach in Alykanas is stunning! The sand is lovely and soft and the sea is usually calm and crystal clear. It cost us 10€ to hire 3 sunbeds and a parasol for the day. You also get service at your sunbed to order drinks & food. A little pricey but a great service.
If you like a challenge and enjoy a hike, myself and my husband climbed the mountain that you can view from the hotel. It's over 2000ft high and is quite strenuous but we did it in August, so it was hot! But well worth it for the view! Be sure to go into the black cave on the way up.. truly
amazing views!! It took around 4 hours. We arrived back to the hotel an hour and a half after breakfast time had finished, but Tasos was straight in the kitchen cooking up a full breakfast for us to enjoy. Like I've said nothing is too much trouble. A gem of a place, I've totally fell in love with Zante and this little hotel and I look forward to returning, when this Pandemic is over. I hope the family manage to keep their business, going through these difficult times.
