OK i'll start with the 'negative' which in reality isn't a negative but poor research on my behalf. The hotel is very remote away from anything that you may want to see.

If you just want to stay in the hotel and relax it's perfect but if you want to see the sights most of them are a 40 minute drive away. If you can do not use the taxis as they are a set price and although everything is relative.. they are generally quite expensive. However if you put some time into researching the bus these are very good and cheap or alternatively can use Uber.

Apart from the location, which isn't bad is just far away from everything the hotel is great, you are made to feel at home, all the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is immaculate and the rooms spacious and everything the pictures make them too look like and more. this is topped off by the view from the balcony.

Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and family with the warning about the location.

The views, balcony and rooms are actually very nice. However, we had to put up with insects and ants the whole weekend in the bed, bathroom and clothes.

We struggled to sleep for the ants crawling in our beds.

We informed the duty manager after the first night, who was apologetic and said they would sort it.

They have a card informing you that there will be insects but if I had known before hand I probably wouldn’t have booked.

However, I think all they did was clean the room. They need to fumigate really or fill in the gaps.

Did spoil the experience for us

Dear Boarding Pass 216876,

We are pleased to receive your valuable feedback and thank you for the time and efforts bringing this to our attention. Do allow us to take this opportunity in extending my sincere apologies on the unpleasant experience, which you have encountered during your stay with us.

One of the distinctive features of our hotel is the inclusion of a private dip-pool in each room’s balcony area, catering to families seeking quality time together. However, we acknowledge that this unique feature presents a challenge, as the open space may allow insects, such as Charlie ants, to enter the room if the balcony door is left wide open while enjoying the pool.

Rest assure that appropriate action will be taken to address the issues. However, we would appreciate if you could furnish us with further details so that we can investigate this matter thoroughly (check-in date, room number etc)

Do email all the details to us at execsec@lexissuitespenang.com

It is indeed appreciated your feedback as it would allow us to make improvements and take corrective measures in ensuring your future return will be rendered with a better service and care.

Warm regards,
The Management

After staying at Lexis PD & Lexis Hibiscus PD which we enjoyed tremendously, my wife wanted to try the newly opened Lexis Suites Penang. We bought the 3D2N package via Groupon and it was worth it as they also include a RM100 F&B voucher.

Firstly, the location is a bit off the normal tourist areas of Georgetown, Gurney Drive, Tanjung Bungah & Batu Ferringhi. Takes about 20 to 30 minutes drive to go to Georgetown via the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

But the area of Teluk Kumbar does have its charming small fishing village feel. There is a seafood restaurant just behind the hotel called Teluk Kumbar Seafood Restaurant. You can have dinner on the beach whilst watching the sunset.

The room facilities and layout are similar to the Lexis Hibiscus whereby there are 2 king sized beds, a plunge pool and a steam room at the balcony.

They also have a bigger pool for hotel guests at Level 8 which also houses the games room with monopoly, mahjong and various board games, a gymnasium, a table tennis table, children playground, karaoke rooms and a soon to be opened spa.

The Japanese Restaurant at the ground floor serves great Japanese cuisines.

All in, this is a very good hotel and the staff are very warm and friendly.

The hotel provided excellent value for money. The room was very spacious, with king beds. The large ensuite area has a separate toilet, vanity area, and a bathroom with both a dual-function shower (rain shower or hand shower) and a luxurious, full-size bath. From the ensuite area, was a door to the balcony which includes a private, undercover 4m x 3m (1.2m deep) splash pool - a lovely respite after, or during, a warm Penang day. The views from the balcony was gorgeous - even though not a seaview room we got a good view of the sea, as well as the village of Teluk Kumbar and the surrounding countryside.

The included buffet breakfast was excellent. There was a very large range of eastern and western dishes. Both the Roselle Café (where breakfasts are held) and the Japanese restaurant on the ground floor, provide good food at great value.

Note that despite the great views, the surrounding area lacks amenities attractive to tourists (the nearest 7-Eleven is 1.5km away). The adjacent beach isn't very clean, particularly the section opposite the hotel. It's a 50-60RM taxi fare to Georgetown, and the bus (although much cheaper) takes over an hour. It is much closer to Penang Airport than Georgetown. There is a 600RM refundable deposit required at check-in.
