Having booked, payed and received a confirmation for a room for four persons (two double rooms with a connecting door between) we got to know upon arrival that the rooms was not available. We could instead get two separate double rooms which we would have to pay extra for. I insisted that it could not be right and had to argue for a while before the receptionist gave up and referred to another person that I would have to argue with the day after. This is not a proper way to handle guests. If the room that we had book and payed for online turned out to be not available upon arrival we should have be upgraded automatically with no further charge, as far as I know that is the standard routine in most hotels/car rental companies etc.
A few words about the hotel, this place is actually not worthy being called a hotel. The place is a reminiscence from the -70'ies when most of the rooms seems to have been built. It felt like nothing had been changed or renovated since those days. Furthermore the fitness room was completely empty. The pool table had no balls. In our room the hairdryer was out of order. The electrical contacts fell apart. The tap could hardly be opened for lime and the water pressure was very low. There were no fridge in the room. No telephone to call the reception. The only positive thing there is to say is that the room at least was clean.
There are plenty of very cosy and nice danish "kroer" (hotels) with lots of charm and cosines. This is definitely not such a place. I would not recommend this place to anyone. This place could actually become a very nice place if they focused on the main kro-building (for example focusing on maximum 10 rooms plus a high end restaurant) and abandoned the rest of the barrack buildings with rooms from the 70'ies.
The breakfast buffet had what seemed like home baked very good bread and buns. Unfortunately the marmalades and butter were served in small and boring plastic containers. Some home made jam made of local strawberries and fruits would have lifted the buffet a lot.
The room was okay but seemed old. The double bed was to single beds slighting away from each other, not very romantic. The hotel staff seemed tired of their job and were not very helpful. We didn't feel welcome at all. The small pool was fine, the sauna didn't work. I will not recommend this hotel.
The worst thing was the 40 dkk charge for ice water at dinner, outrageous price for a beaker of tap water with ice, and that I was not told that there would be a charge, so having ice water at 2 dinners meant a surprise charge of 80 dkk, at check out, I felt cheated. A really stupid thing for the hotel to do. That charge is beyond reasonable.
Internet access was advertised, if you have your own computer I found upon arrival.
There is a fitness room in the basement, very poor quality and broken training machines, the pool is very small and the sauna was not working. The staff were nice people.
